Chapter 355

Stephanie said, โ€œYou need to keep an eye on him. Itโ€™s best to find out what international connections he might have.โ€

Sebastian lowered his gaze, a smile dancing in his eyes.

โ€œWhy are you looking at me like that?โ€ she asked.

โ€œHave you finally started to think?โ€

Stephanieโ€™s brow furrowed, wondering if he was saying she used to be dumb. โ€œWhatโ€™s that supposed to mean? Iโ€™m earning more than two million dollars a year now.โ€ No fool could earn that much.

The moment she dropped the phrase โ€œmore than two million dollars,โ€ the car fell silent in a strange way.

Seeing Sebastian not respond, Stephanie couldnโ€™t hold back. โ€œWhat? You really donโ€™t believe me?โ€

Sebastian chuckled softly, saying, โ€œI believe you.โ€

That single phrase had another tone to it, especially when Elliot cleared his throat, and even Macro, who usually loved to chime in, fell quiet.

Stephanie felt something was off. โ€œSebastian, are you hiding something from me?โ€

โ€œNot at all,โ€ he said.

โ€œSomething is off. You definitely are.โ€

Every time she mentioned her earnings, he never properly acknowledged her.

Macro, who had been struggling to keep his laughter in, finally burst out. His loud laughter drew everyoneโ€™s attention.

โ€œWhatโ€™s so funny about my two million?โ€ Stephanie huffed.

Macro kept chuckling. Stephanie couldnโ€™t stand him laughing so loud for so long, and he was even leaning forward from the laugh. That, to Stephanie, was provocative.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with you?โ€ Stephanie asked. โ€œI canโ€™t make money on my own?โ€

Macro couldnโ€™t stop laughing. โ€œI donโ€™t know if anythingโ€™s wrong with me, but youโ€™re really naive.โ€

Stephanie really wanted to slap him.

Stephanie couldnโ€™t stand Macroโ€™s laughter anymore. Frustrated, she reached for Sebastianโ€™s shirt, saying, โ€œYouโ€™re definitely hiding something from me.โ€

โ€œAre you seriously asking him about that?โ€ Macro snickered.

โ€œIโ€™m really about to get upset,โ€ she warned.

โ€œYou know that โ€˜more than two million dollarsโ€™ you keep bragging about? Sebastian was worried that youโ€™d starve without it. You think you can handle things on your own? Youโ€™re just a sheltered flower, thinking you can brave the storm.โ€

Stephanieโ€™s mind went blank. She instinctively looked up at Sebastian. โ€œYouโ€ฆ you always knew where I was?โ€

Sebastian pressed her face gently against his chest, not answering.

She insisted. โ€œYou have to tell me. I thought you couldnโ€™t find me. The moment I used my card, you showed up. I thoughtโ€ฆโ€

Sebastian held her against him again. โ€œThere were things I had to resolve at the time.โ€

โ€œAnd what about the Hart family? You knew about it too?โ€ she asked. How else would he know to give her the money?

Sebastian finally confessed. โ€œI know some things. Not everything.โ€

โ€œNot everythingโ€ felt vague. She tried to sit up, but he held her down firmly.

Elliot couldnโ€™t keep silent any longer. โ€œActually, when you fought that girl from the Hart family, Mr. Giovanni figured out where you were.โ€

Wait, he knew all the time? Stephanie looked up at Sebastian, her vision clouding with mist.

Elliot continued. โ€œIf it wasnโ€™t for worrying youโ€™d become suspicious, Mr. Giovanni was ready to give you hundreds of millions for design fees.โ€

Stephanie felt speechless.

Adding to the moment, Macro laughed again. โ€œRight. If I hadnโ€™t stepped in, he would have thrown so much money at you just to keep you from starving outside.โ€
