Listen to this chapter:

โ€œAlphasโ€ฆ you need to go inโ€ฆ Lady Anita is bleeding.โ€

I exchanged confused gazes with my brothers, but we didnโ€™t say a word or ask further questions before making our way back into the hall. We pushed our way through the panicked pack members.

โ€œMove!โ€ I barked, shoving past a frozen omega blocking the doorway. My brothers were right behind me, equally confused.

And then I saw her.

Anita was on the floor, her dress stained with blood. It seeped from her thighs, pooling beneath her; her face contorted in pain. She was sobbing, her entire body trembling.

Louis cursed under his breath and rushed forward, dropping to his knees beside her. Lennox and I followed, my mind struggling to process the sight.

โ€œWhat the fuck happened?!โ€ I growled, my voice sharp with concern.

Anitaโ€™s tear-filled eyes locked onto mine. โ€œIโ€“I wanted to surprise you three,โ€ she gasped through her cries. โ€œI was going to tell youโ€“Iโ€™m pregnant.โ€

Silence. My breath caught in my throat. My entire body went still. Pregnant?

Lennox swore under his breath. Louis let out a sharp exhale, his hands hovering over Anitaโ€™s bloodstained thighs, unsure of what to do.

โ€œI was going to tell you all tonight,โ€ Anita continued, her voice breaking. โ€œI wanted it to be a happy moment, but sheโ€“she pushed me!โ€

She turned her head, her tear-streaked face filled with pain as she pointed a shaking finger at Olivia.

My gaze snapped up, and I found Olivia standing a few feet away, her face blank, unreadable. The pack members who had remained in the hall stared at her in shock, whispering amongst themselves. She didnโ€™t move. She didnโ€™t deny it. She simply stood there, staring at Anita with a confused but guilty look.

Rage exploded inside me.

โ€œYou pushed her?โ€ My voice came out low, lethal.

Olivia flinched, her eyes widening. โ€œIโ€“I didnโ€™t know,โ€ Olivia finally stammered, her voice trembling. โ€œI didnโ€™t know she was pregnant. I didnโ€™t even push her that hard. She tripped! I swear, I wasnโ€™t trying toโ€”โ€

โ€œShe tripped?!โ€ Lennox hissed, stepping forward, his eyes blazing with anger.

โ€œSheโ€™s bleeding, Olivia!โ€ Louis snapped, his voice rough with panic as he pressed his hand to Anitaโ€™s thighs, trying to slow the bleeding. โ€œYou call that a trip?!โ€

Tears welled up in Oliviaโ€™s eyes, but she stood her ground. โ€œI was just trying to walk past her! She blocked my way and grabbed me. Iโ€“I only shoved her arm off. I didnโ€™t even thinkโ€”โ€ Her voice cracked. โ€œI didnโ€™t know she was pregnant! Why would I ever hurt her?โ€

I clenched my fists, my wolf silent.

Anita whimpered on the floor, clutching at Louis. โ€œShe did itโ€ฆ she pushed me,โ€ she repeated weakly, her voice frail and trembling.

The pack murmured louder now, heads turning from Olivia to Anita. I stared at Olivia, my emotions a tangled storm inside me. Olivia wasnโ€™t the type to cause harmโ€”everyone knew that. But there was a tendency that she might do it.

Louis growled. โ€œGet the healer! NOW!โ€

Oliviaโ€™s lips parted like she wanted to say something else, but nothing came out. She just stood there, tears streaking down her cheeks as she watched us cradle Anita.

The packโ€™s whispers grew. From where I stood, I didnโ€™t even know what to feel.

And then another realization hit me like a punch to the gut. Anita was carrying our pup. Our pup.

Shit. It was possibleโ€”so possible. Most of the time, we used protection. But there were nightsโ€ฆ we hadnโ€™t. Nights where instinct and need had taken over.

I looked at Lennox. He met my gaze with the same horrified, conflicted look in his eyes.

The healer arrived, rushing to Anitaโ€™s side, pressing gentle hands against her stomach. The tension in the air was suffocating.

And thenโ€ฆ her frown deepened. I saw it in her face before she even spoke.

A heavy silence fell over the room as the healer whispered the words that made my world tilt.

โ€œShe was pregnant,โ€ she confirmed, voice laced with sorrow. โ€œButโ€ฆ the pups are gone.โ€

Olivia gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. Anita let out a broken sob as she continued shaking her head in denial.

The murmuring grew, but Olivia shook her head. โ€œI didnโ€™t do it!โ€ she shouted, her voice cracking. Tears streamed down her face as she turned in desperation, looking at me, then Lennox, then Louis. โ€œI swear on my wolf, I didnโ€™t push her like that! It wasnโ€™tโ€”โ€

โ€œYou did it, Luna,โ€ a she-wolf accused from the gathered pack. โ€œWe saw it.โ€

Murmurs of agreement rippled through the crowd.

โ€œYou shoved her!โ€ โ€œShe lost the Alphasโ€™ pups because of you!โ€ โ€œYou wanted this, didnโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œNo!โ€ Olivia shouted, stepping back as the packโ€™s whispers turned to accusations. โ€œI didnโ€™tโ€”!โ€

Louis shot to his feet. His head snapped toward Olivia, his eyes blazing with anger.

โ€œYou expect us to believe this is just a coincidence?โ€ he growled, voice laced with anger.

โ€œI didnโ€™t mean for her to fall!โ€ Oliviaโ€™s voice was hoarse with desperation. โ€œShe grabbed me first, but I just pulled away!โ€

Lennox took a slow step forward, his expression unreadable. โ€œWhy were you even near her?โ€

โ€œIโ€”โ€ Olivia hesitated, glancing around as if realizing she was alone in this. โ€œI was trying to leave the hallโ€ฆ sheโ€“she stood in my way and grabbed my arm. I didnโ€™t even push her that hard!โ€

Lennoxโ€™s jaw tightened. โ€œBut you did push her.โ€

A fresh wave of murmurs spread through the pack.

โ€œIโ€“Iโ€”โ€ Oliviaโ€™s breath came faster, panic setting in as the judgment in the room thickened. She looked at me then, her eyes pleading. โ€œLevi, you know me. You know I wouldnโ€™tโ€”โ€

I wanted to believe her. But Anita was lying on the ground, covered in blood, our blood. The life we didnโ€™t even know weโ€™d createdโ€ฆ gone.

My wolf growled low in my head, restless.

โ€œShe lost our pups, Olivia,โ€ I said, my voice coming out hollow.

Olivia flinched like I had struck her.

โ€œI didnโ€™tโ€”โ€ she choked out, taking a trembling step toward me, but before she could reach me, someone else grabbed her arm.

A warrior.

I stiffened as I realized what was happening.

โ€œShe should be punished,โ€ another voice rang out from the pack. โ€œShe killed the Alphasโ€™ heirs.โ€

โ€œNo! No, I didnโ€™t!โ€ Olivia struggled, but more warriors stepped forward, surrounding her.
