Hearing that, even Leonard forgot to stay angry. His eyes shifted to Lucas as well. This wasn’t the time to hold grudges; it was time to unite. Leonard still knew what truly mattered. No matter how he felt about Aurora, right now, they all needed to find out who was behind this. That was the main reason he’d come with Megan in the first place.

Megan also put away her smile, her expression turning serious. “So, what’s the situation with Julian?”

Aurora voiced the question Leonard had been wanting to ask. As soon as she said it, they both sat up a little straighter, eyes fixed on Lucas without blinking.

Lucas gave a slight nod. “His mental state… something’s off.”

The other three let out soft sighs. Even Aurora hadn’t expected things to escalate this far. Just a month ago, Julian had still been completely normal. He was even able to negotiate terms with her. But now, everything had changed.

For some reason, Aurora felt a heavy weight in her chest. After all, she’d known Julian for quite some time. However, maybe this was all just the consequence of his own choices. When he came after her, did he ever imagine it would end like this? He had brought this upon himself.

“But, this trip wasn’t for nothing. I found something useful.” The three of them turned to Lucas with curiosity, watching as he pulled out a black phone.

Aurora immediately caught on. “That phone belongs to Julian?”

Lucas nodded, covering his thoughts with a nod, eyes reflecting a hint of approval. No wonder he was drawn to this woman–she really was different. Just a few exchanges, and she already grasped his meaning.

Megan clapped her hands, “If we suspect Julian and Tessa are involved, maybe the evidence is in that phone?” Her mind finally clicked into gear–she was back in sync with the group’s rhythm.

Leonard struck with a blunt question, “Have you cracked the passcode yet?”

At this point, Lucas could set aside past grievances. He shook his head, “Not yet, it’ll take time.”

Leonard smiled confidently, a slight curl at his lips. “If you don’t have the right person, I know a friend who’s amazing at electronics.”

Lucas raised an eyebrow—he was intrigued. He studied Leonard’s gaze, wanting to know if he was serious. What did Leonard expect in return? What did he really want?

Leonard met Lucas’s stare, feeling a slight sting of humiliation. “What do you mean by that?”

Lucas didn’t mince words. “It means I don’t trust your intentions.”

At those words, Aurora’s expression changed. She discreetly nudged Lucas’ arm, signaling him not to be harsh. After all, Leonard had been at her side for days, helping Megan–his actions spoke for themselves. If he was truly a friend, she couldn’t let Lucas speak so harshly.

But beyond friendship… Aurora genuinely had no idea what else Leonard might want. She had always seen him only as a friend and nothing more.
