Seeing Megan so enthusiastic, Aurora couldn’t bring herself to refuse. This was all out of genuine care, and if she turned it down, Megan would definitely feel hurt. She wouldn’t say anything, but deep down, she’d quietly take it to heart. Megan might seem carefree on the surface, but in reality, she needed a lot of time to process her emotions. She was someone who had gotten used to digesting everything on her own. But over time, that kind of habit wasn’t necessarily good for her. It would only make her feel like her world was getting darker. Aurora didn’t want to see a version of Megan who kept everything to herself. After all, wasn’t that what best friends were for? To support each other no matter what?

Watching Megan fuss around, Aurora felt a mix of sweetness and heartache in her chest. She was always so thoughtful toward others, but not nearly as kind to herself. And that, more than anything, made Aurora ache for her. However, Megan accepted all of this willingly. To her, Aurora was her one true best friend, and if she didn’t look out for her, then who would she look out for? Her loyalty wasn’t something just anyone could earn. Lucas watched the way the two of them interacted and quietly let out a breath of relief. Megan’s visit really had been perfect timing. If she’d come even a little later, Aurora might’ve already been on a plane back home by now. Luckily, having Megan stay here had delayed things by a few days. Otherwise, with how much of a workaholic Aurora was, he still felt a little worried. She had only just gotten better.

While Megan was frantically placing orders, she suddenly remembered something. She looked up at Aurora, who had already changed back into her hospital gown. “Aurora, have you told your mom that you’ve woken up?”

Aurora froze at those words. She really had forgotten. And right after waking up, she saw Julian. Moreover, with Tessa meddling in between, one thing led to another, and she had truly forgotten. Seeing Aurora’s confused look, Megan knew she definitely hadn’t said anything. She sighed. “If you don’t tell her, then how are you going to deal with Julian? No matter what, he’s still your future brother-in-law in name. He was at least engaged to Tessa.”

That thought did make Aurora hesitate.

Even Lucas, who had been so sure of himself, hesitated a little after hearing that. Yeah, this wasn’t something he could just act on so easily. There were a lot of complications behind it. And Julian was still very much tied to the Walton family. If they really wanted to deal with him, they’d still need Grace’s opinion. After all, he was once considered the Walton family’s future son-in-law on paper.

Aurora looked a bit surprised by Megan’s words. “Wow, now you’re actually thinking this far ahead?” Aurora looked at Megan with a smile. “That means I can count on you going forward.”

Megan scoffed. “No way. Don’t you dare try to slack off. I don’t care. You have to stay by my side!”

Aurora nodded quickly. “Yes, yes, don’t worry about that.”

The two of them shared a light and cheerful moment.
