Seeing how serious she was, Judy no longer doubted her.
Her gaze shifted between Wendy and Kenneth. “So, what are you dragging your brother along for now?”
Judy wasn’t stupid.
A moment later, she asked, “Are you two going to see Aurora?”
Wendy couldn’t help but admire her. Judy really was sharp. Talking to someone smart was always easier. It saved her a lot of effort.
“You’re right. I am going to see Aurora.”
They exchanged a knowing smile, instantly understanding each other. It seemed they were about to become partners again.
Kenneth, caught between them, looked from one to the other and asked in confusion, “What are you two talking about? Are you speaking in code or something?”
Wendy didn’t bother explaining. After all, they were standing on the street. If she explained it all to Kenneth here, wouldn’t that just expose everything to everyone around? And Judy understood the same. She didn’t want anyone else to learn about their conversation. So, the moment the conversation shifted, she said nothing more, as if they shared an unspoken understanding.
Wendy and Judy exchanged a smile.
“In that case, about the car…”
Wendy’s meaning was clear – she didn’t want to waste any more time here. And Judy wasn’t the type to fuss over such things anymore. She had money now, so who cared about a few bucks? Besides, this wasn’t the time to argue over petty things. Instead of overthinking, it was better to focus on how they were going to deal with Aurora.
“Alright, go handle your business. Just remember, if anything happens on Aurora’s end, you have to tell me right away.” Judy paused, then added, “Even if it’s something small, like whether she’s woken up or not, I still want to know.”
“Don’t worry, we’re on the same side now.”
As she spoke, Wendy patted Judy on the shoulder and walked off without staying any longer. Since they’d decided to visit a patient, lingering here would just waste time. The sun was already beginning to set.
Once Wendy and Kenneth got into the car, Kenneth still felt like the whole thing was surreal.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Wait, how exactly do you two know each other?”
Wendy thought of the enemy they shared – Aurora.
But all she did was smile slightly. “That’s a secret. I don’t want to tell you.”
Kenneth raised an eyebrow at that. Seeing her like this, he felt a chill in his heart. “Great. I came all this way just to help you out. And now you’re telling me you’re keeping secrets from me? Anyone would feel let down.”
Hearing him say that, Wendy suddenly felt like she’d done something terrible.
She sighed and rubbed her forehead. “No, that’s not it, brother. It’s just that she and I share a common enemy. As for who that person is, do I really need to spell it out?”
Kenneth grew more puzzled. “Why do you two hate Aurora so much anyway?”
