Chapter 220
Roxanne lifted her gate and looked at Vespera pleadingly, her eyes reddened. Although Vespera wasn’t one to give in to force or persuasion, she couldn’t resist Roxanne’s pleading look. Maybe Roxanne wasn’t a coward; she merely had no idea how to make a graceful exit. Since she didn’t want to seem like she was running away, she forcefully did something strange—she joined Vespera and Bryson at their table.
Oh, whatever. Rosanne could have a seat for a while. After all, Rebecca wasn’t there yet.
Vespera took her seat again, causing Dominic to look at her in confusion. Meanwhile, Gerard shoved the menu toward Calvert, gesturing for him to order. Calvert called for a waiter and began giving his order, which consisted only of his favorite meat dishes without any vegetables.
But then, Dominic took out his phone, which had been buzzing in his pocket. He took a quick glance at the caller ID before answering with a nonchalant expression.
“Mom,”
“Have you met with Ms. Moreno yet?” Fan sounded lighthearted.
Dominic got up slowly. Calvert and Gerard assumed he was about to leave the restaurant to take the call. Instead, he merely changed his seat—to the very seat directly behind Vespera. Their backs were facing each other, and their seats were close to one another. Just like that, Vespera could easily overhear Dominic’s conversation with Fawn. There was no way she could avoid it.
“I saw her,” Dominic answered softly.
“That’s good. I was worried that she wouldn’t be able to find you. You should accompany her and talk to her more often.”
“Didn’t you say that you like women with good appetites? Well, Ms. Moreno does have an excellent appetite—she can eat two steaks in one go.”
“P…order women who can eat an entire…”
Fawn was speechless. Dominic’s response was clearly sarcastic. Any excitement she had vanished instantly. “Didn’t you have a good time the other day? I thought you liked her, so I arranged for another date.”
“Could you please inform me ahead of time?” Dominic toned slightly. “Because you made a decision without consulting me, my staff member with a vivid imagination started creating baseless rumors. It’s been quite troublesome for me.”
Vespera stiffened. A staff member with a vivid imagination—was Dominic referring to her?
Fawn realized that Dominic was truly furious this time. “It’s my fault for not thinking things through. I’m sorry, Dominic. Next time…”
“There’s no next time. No more blind dates from now on.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t break my promise. I’ll find my own girlfriend; all you have to do is wait.” His tone sounded gentle and thoughtful, but his behavior was…
Fawn was about to suggest that Dominic should get to know Roxanne better, but the words did not come out of her mouth. It was better not to say anything. Otherwise, one might no longer be as courteous.
Out of all her four children, Dominic was the most obedient and reliable child who rarely made mistakes. But he was also the most terrifying one once he grew…
Samuel leaned toward Fawn. “You upset him, didn’t you? I already told you not to arrange for a second date, but you didn’t want to listen. He forced you to cancel all the blind dates, right?”
Fawn was already feeling extremely upset at that moment. Seeing Samuel revel in her misery made her pinch him angrily, and she ended the call.
The atmosphere in the corner of the restaurant seemed even more awkward than ever. Roxanne’s cheeks were burning. She had begged her mother to seek Fawn out. During their first blind date, Roxanne didn’t get the idea that Dominic disliked her, so she wanted to go out on a second date with him. Since he had been gentle and kind during the blind date, she believed he would be receptive toward her even if he wasn’t happy with the arrangement.
Who knew Dominic could be so cold-hearted? Not only did he change his seat, but he made sure that Roxanne overheard the conversation.
Meanwhile, Vespera secretly chuckled to herself. Dominic was killing three birds with one stone. He criticized Vespera for spreading rumors while hinting that she should stop wasting her time.
The best of all? Dominic informed Fawn of her mistake in making a decision without consulting him. Indeed, Dominic was rather terrifying. He made sure each woman got equal cold treatment.
“Ms. Gildon,” Dominic’s voice made Vespera turn around languidly. “Mr. R., Mr. Beld,”
After a moment’s silence, Dominic spoke teasingly with a hint of warmth in his voice. “Seems like you’re having a delightful weekend. I even made sure to share my joy with you. Aren’t you over the moon now?”
