Although his thoughts were bold, and Dominic wasn’t the type to act on such impulses, it couldn’t be ruled out that Dominic was getting lonely. Vespera had no idea what Gerard was thinking.

The following week, her work went smoothly. She familiarized herself with key personnel in both the headquarters and branches, as well as the various projects that had been underway for the past year. She gradually built relationships with the department managers and upper management. During lunch breaks and after work, she would treat the secretary department staff to meals to expedite the process of getting to know them. After all, she would be relying on them every day, and having a team she could trust was essential.

On her first day, her colleagues had been a bit distant, but just a few days later, they were already on a first-name basis. They even made sure to buy her a drink whenever they went out.

What pleased her most, however, was that Gerard stopped asking her to wake Dominic up from his naps. Furthermore, he always insisted on making Dominic his coffee in the mornings and tea in the afternoons. Gerard was truly a great partner in crime. She realized that she had misunderstood him before.

Soon, it was Wednesday, and Vespera was going on a business trip with Dominic that would take two days. They were leaving in the morning and returning the following afternoon.

The night before, Vespera packed her luggage. Meanwhile, Rebecca sat on her bed, hugging a pillow and resting her chin on her hand.

“Wow, just the two of you? How exciting! You definitely have to seize the opportunity, darling,” Rebecca teased.

Vespera grabbed a piece of clothing and playfully covered her face. “Seize what opportunity? I’m going to work.”

Rebecca pulled the clothing away. “Well, you can always steal a kiss. You don’t have to be available emotionally to enjoy physical pleasures.”

“Tending to physical needs is healthy. It can prolong your life.”

Vespera laughed. “Do you think he’s a gigolo? Throw him some money, and he’ll obediently lie down and let you do whatever you want?”

Rebecca squinted mischievously and raised an eyebrow. “Maybe he’d be willing.”

Vespera stared at her. “You mean to be a gigolo?”

Rebecca blinked and then fell back onto the bed. There was no saving Vespera.

The next morning, Vespera woke up 15 minutes later than usual. She quickly grabbed a slice of bread and a glass of milk for breakfast, then rushed upstairs to the top floor with her luggage. Dominic was already having breakfast. She stood beside him, waiting.

A tempting smell of bacon wafted into her nose, and she glanced at his plate. Was that just regular bacon? Why did it smell so good? As he put it into his mouth, she couldn’t help but swallow. Then, she saw him fork some salad. The leaves were so fresh, they seemed to have just been picked from the garden and placed directly onto the plate. The crisp sound they made as he bit into them was irresistible. She couldn’t even imagine how fresh and delicious it must have been.

She hadn’t realized she was staring at his lips while her mouth watered. It was almost as if she wanted to devour him.

“Ms. Gildon…!!” Dominic, feeling uncomfortable under her gaze, finally spoke. “How about you sit down and eat with me?”

“That would be too much, wouldn’t it? I shouldn’t…”

She sat down straightaway despite what she said.
