Yale was stunned and looked awkwardly at Rachel. He even patted his cheeks gently.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Lloyd. I take back what I said earlier."
He clenched his toes, almost dying from embarrassment.
What was going on with Mr. Hunt? Why did he suddenly agree to Ms. Charlton's offer? Wasn't he in a relationship with Ms. Lloyd?
What exactly was happening?
Rachel knew there was no point eavesdropping on the rest of their conversation. She was clearly overthinking, to the point that she assumed Tyler might get taken advantage of by Anne if he had a drop too much.
Right now, it seemed as though he wanted Anne to take advantage of him.
Rachel stood up, the look on her face deadly calm.
"Let's head back."
Yale was stunned. "Huh? Head back now? Shouldn't we waitโฆ"
"No need. We'll only interrupt them."
With that, Rachel stood up and left, not caring whether Yale left with her.
Yale looked worriedly at Tyler. Left with no other choice, he stood up and left the place with Rachel. If anything untoward were to happen to her, he wouldnโt be able to explain things to Mr. Hunt.
Yale followed Rachel into a car. Although Rachel didnโt look like she was in a bad mood, he could clearly feel the tension in the air.
Thankfully, Rachel's aura wasn't as frightening as that of Mr. Huntโs, or he wouldn't have survived.
Tyler, completely oblivious to the fact that Rachel and Yale were there a moment ago, continued chatting with Anne.
Anneโs eyes lit up at Tylerโs agreement to consider her offer. She looked at Tyler with glistening eyes, as though she had found the greatest treasure of all.
โTyler, are you saying yes to me? Will you really consider being with me?โ
โGive me a few days to think it through, but promise me this. No matter my response to you on this, you have to be objective about your decision regarding the proposal and not be affected by personal affairs. Otherwise, Iโm afraid we wonโt even be able to be friends in the future. That is my baseline.โ
In actual fact, Anne cared nothing about the project.
It wasnโt very large-scale to begin with. She could have assigned someone else in her company to oversee this project, but she wanted more opportunities to interact with Tyler. It had been a long time since she last saw him. If she could end up with him and ink a collaboration between both their companies, it would be great news for her.
Tyler stood up. โGo back to your hotel room.โ
โOh yes, Tyler. You know, itโs rare that weโre both here. I have a friend who owns a holiday estate here. Shall we go there tomorrow for some rest and relaxation?โ Anne suggested.
Tyler knew about that estate; it was spacious and came with great scenery, heaven on earth. Many rich clients and elite businessmen would swarm there during the holidays despite not being guaranteed a place to stay.
He tried booking it before, but it was too popular, and he couldnโt get it despite activating his network.
He didnโt expect Anne to be able to book it.
โI donโt feel very good about leaving my other two employees in the hotel,โ he said with some hesitation. Anne did want to spend quality time with Tyler alone, but rejecting his request seemed a little petty on her part. This was the critical period during which he would consider their relationship, after all.
โNo problem. Call them over. The more, the merrier,โ Anne said with a smile.
The knot in Tylerโs brows unravelled. โIโll call you a cab.โ
Anne didnโt push Tyler any further. He was a tough cookie, and the progress she had made today was good enough for her. She shouldnโt rush things, she reminded herself.
โAlright.โ
After Anne stepped into the car, Tyler realized he had left his phone at their table and turned back in to grab it.
That was when he overheard the waiters gossiping with each other.
โThat lady is so rich, footing all the bills tonight just to shift everyone from the private rooms downstairs!โ
