Chapter 712
โAlright, then. Letโs hurry back to the hotel and familiarize ourselves with the project proposal.โ
With that, Rachel quickened her pace.
Yale and Tyler exchanged glances.
โMs. Lloyd isโฆso enthusiastic. It looks more like sheโs the one heading the project while weโre her assistants.โ
Tyler held back a smile and stuck his hands in his pockets. โSheโs just like this; when sheโs in the zone, all she can see is work.โ
Yale remarked, โJust like you.โ
Tylerโs gaze swept across Yaleโs face. โIs that so?โ
โYeah,โ Yale said with a nod.
Rachel headed to the reception desk to check in. She originally wanted to ask for one room, but changed her mind at the last minute.
โThree rooms, please.โ
She was about to hand her identity documents to the receptionist when Tyler stopped her. โWhy do we need three rooms? Did you call Cecilia along, too?โ
โNo. There are three of us here. Donโt we need three rooms?โ
Tyler said with a furrowed brow. โYou want to sleep separately from me?โ
โNo. I was thinking that you originally only planned on bringing Yale along, but ended up bringing me as well. If your business partner discovers that you brought your girlfriend with you, it may negatively impact your business. Having three rooms is best. Weโre just keeping our distance for the time being.โ
Rachel wasnโt bringing this up randomly.
In fact, she had lost a business deal because of this exact reason.
There was a couple in her company, and both were capable enough for her to bring along on a business trip.
She was so obsessed with the work before her, she didnโt notice the subtle nuances in their behavior toward each other. However, their business partner could tell at one glance.
The couple wasnโt exactly blameless, though. They would exchange loving glances during meetings, and the boyfriend would keep serving her food during mealtimes. They looked more like they were on a date than a business trip.
A contract that should have been in the bag was lost just like that.
The business partner believed that if the companyโs employees were allowed to mix work and pleasure, they might end up not taking the project seriously and spend work time flirting with each other.
The company penalized Rachel as well, to make her reflect on her mistake. She could still remember it clearly, as though it had happened just yesterday.
Rachel took a deep breath and said to Tyler, โThis is work. Weโd better not mix personal life into it. Everything can wait till we sign the contract. I also hope you wonโt tell the business partner that Iโm your girlfriend, Mr. Hunt.โ
The look in her eyes meant business.
She had done her calculations. What they had right now wasnโt enough, even after all the projects she had given Tylerโs company. They needed more projects; the more, the better. She cared for nothing else except for a singular goal: to help him clinch the deal.
Tyler didnโt know whether to feel happy or upset to see her so eagerly draw a line between them for the sake of work.
โFine. Since youโre willing to disregard your boyfriend for the sake of the bigger picture, Iโll do as you say. But donโt you come to regret it later, Ms. Lloyd.โ
Rachel didnโt have the time or capacity to think about whether Tyler was upset or not. Whatever it was, she was confident that his anger would be appeased once the contract was signed.
She pushed her identity card toward the receptionist.
โGo ahead,โ she said.
