Chapter 692
The guard froze for a moment.
โUhh, well, we just had the staff check, and it turns out the surveillance system was damaged. Nothing came up.โ
Rachel and Yale both exhaled in unison, relief flooding through them. They were nearly out of their wits.
Tyler slammed his palm on the desk with a heavy crack, his voice a low, furious snarl.
โImpossible! Our companyโs security system is the best there is. And youโre telling me itโs been sabotaged, and you canโt even find out who did it?โ
The sheer force behind his anger made the guard stumble back two steps. Head lowered, shoulders trembling, he stammered, โMโMr. Hunt, weโve already sent people to investigate. But it may take some time before we get results.โ
Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, the guard quickly added, โMr. Hunt, what about Mr. Yale? If we leave this matter to him, Iโm sure heโll get to the bottom of it immediately.โ
He shouldnโt have said that. The moment Yaleโs name came up, Tylerโs fury deepened. His voice was ice-cold.
โThen find out where Yale is right now.โ
The guard was dumbstruck. Had Yale vanished, too?
Tylerโs gaze landed on him, still standing there like a fool, and his anger spiked.
โWhat are you waiting for? Do you need me to send you off myself?โ
โSโSorry! Iโll get right on it!โ
The guard bolted out. As the office door shut behind him, he pressed a hand to his pounding chest, finally letting out a shaky sigh.
โWhatโs up with Mr. Hunt today? Heโs acting like heโs ready to explode, or maybe itโs just because of the companyโs situation?โ
Still, for someone to break through this companyโs security system was unbelievable. In all these years, no one had ever pulled it off. Whoever did it was a true master.
While Tyler waited for the investigation results, Yale and Rachel exchanged a glance. They both knew the timing was critical. Any longer, and Tylerโs suspicions would be confirmed.
Rachel whipped out her phone and fired off a few WhatsApp messages to him.
[Tyler, thereโs a problem with Cecilia. We canโt handle it. Can you come over?]
Almost instantly, Tyler called back. But Rachel didnโt answer. Instead, she declined the call.
[I canโt talk right now. Just head to the address Iโm sending you.]
She quickly forwarded the location Cecilia had given her earlier.
Tyler read the message, and without hesitation, picked up his car keys from the desk and walked out.
Rachel and Yale scrambled out from under the desk. Rachel urged, โHurry, thereโs no time. We have to beat Tyler there, or everything falls apart!โ
โGot it!โ
They slipped out through the back door, Rachel dialing Jerry as they moved.
โJerry, weโre heading out the back. You need to wipe every camera along the way. Tyler canโt find even the slightest trace.โ
โI know, but Tyler already has people repairing the system. I donโt know if I can keep it covered.โ
Jerry didnโt sound sure of himself. The truth was, Tylerโs companyโs security system was miles ahead of anything else out there. He had poured his entire careerโs worth of expertise into trying to crack it.
But Rachel didnโt have the luxury to worry.
โJerry, I believe in you. You have to do this. We canโt let everything go to waste.โ
She hung up, and she and Yale slipped into the parking garage, only steps behind Tyler.
Thankfully, Yale was prepared. He borrowed a friendโs car.
Even so, Tyler simply drove too fast. No matter how hard Yale stepped on the pedal, he couldnโt keep up.
Yale was anxious.
โThis isnโt working. At this rate, weโll never catch him!โ
If Tyler got there first, they would be exposed.
Rachel had seen enough.
โPull over. Stop the car,โ she ordered.
