Chapter 670
Yvette had to pay the price for her actions.
Rachel found herself in a dilemma as her resolve began wavering. She had never considered this possibility, but now that Tyler had mentioned it, she had no choice but to think in that direction.
โLet me think about this. Itโs all too sudden. Letโs solve your companyโs crisis first,โ Rachel said as matter-of-factly as possible.
Tyler wasnโt anxious. He knew Rachel wouldnโt be able to run from him.
โAlright.โ
Rachel looked at the time and stood up. โLetโs head back.โ
โOkay.โ
Tyler wrapped an arm around her waist as he stood up. They were about to move off when a thought came to her mind.
โWhereโs Jerry? Didnโt he go with you to your medical review? How did that go?โ
โNothing much. Xavier told me to rest up.โ
Rachel assumed Tyler was probably fine, since he wasnโt even using the crutch anymore.
โGood that youโre fine. I suppose Dr. Jenkins reminded you to take care and not overwork yourself?โ
โYes, but donโt worry. Iโm in great shape and wonโt affect you.โ
His tone was deliberately suggestive, making Rachelโs cheeks flush with embarrassment. She cast him a side glance.
โCan you please take this seriously?โ
Tyler arched his brow and chuckled. โHow am I not taking it seriously?โ
โYouโฆโ Rachel didnโt know what to respond with and barely squeezed out, โWhat did you mean by saying that it wonโt affect meโฆ?โ
Tylerโs chest shook, as though he was trying hard to hold back laughter.
โWhat I meant was that now that Iโve recovered, I can accompany you wherever you want to go.โ
Rachel pursed her lips. โUmโฆ Was that really what you meant?โ
Tyler turned to look at her, and their gazes locked. His exquisitely carved features were sharp and stood out perfectly.
โWhat else did you think I meant?โ
He inched closer to her.
The night was getting darker as the sun dipped below the horizon. The dim street lights shone above Rachel and Tylerโs heads.
Tyler poked Rachelโs cheek gently.
Rachel didnโt dare to admit that she was thinking in that direction. It was all Tylerโs fault for teasing her so often, causing her to think that way. Otherwise, she wouldnโt have misunderstood him that way.
She retracted her gaze, feeling her ears grow hot.
โThatโs exactly what I thought. Wait here, I need to call Jerry.โ
Rachel hurriedly pulled out her phone to hide her embarrassment. She was about to dial Jerryโs number when Tyler suddenly grabbed her hand and leaned in close to her.
โDoesnโt he have legs? Or is he unable to find his way back home? Is that why you need to keep a close eye on him, like heโs a child?โ
Rachel stared into Tylerโs deep, dark eyes for a second too long before breaking off eye contact.
She chuckled and said, โTyler, are you jealous of a child?โ
โIs he a child? Heโs a man,โ Tyler said bluntly.
With a small smile, Rachel said, โWell, heโs still a child to me.โ
