Chapter 554

Yale broke out in a cold sweat from the scolding.

โ€œI understand.โ€

โ€œAnd one more thing, tell those shareholders weโ€™re having a meeting next Monday.โ€

Tyler had been busy lately, and some people were clearly starting to push their luck.

Yale nodded. โ€œYes, sir.โ€

Tyler was just about to open the driverโ€™s side door when he noticed Rachel still standing by the passenger side. He glanced at her.

โ€œWhat, waiting for me to open it for you?โ€

Rachel blinked, caught off guard, and quickly explained, โ€œI didnโ€™t mean that, I justโ€”โ€

Before she could finish, Tyler was already walking toward her. Despite the casual scorn in his tone, his actions betrayed him. He stepped up and opened the door for her himself.

Watching from nearby, Yale suddenly felt a wave of regret.

Why wasnโ€™t he born a woman?

He used to think Tyler treated everyone with equal indifference, man or woman. But ever since Rachel came into the picture, heโ€™d seen firsthand what favoritism really looked like.

Rachel probably didnโ€™t even realize it herself. Only those who spent enough time around Tyler could recognize how rare and telling his behavior was.

He remembered when Tylerโ€™s cousin acted all delicate, saying she couldnโ€™t open the car door. Tyler told her straight-up to ride an e-scooter from now on.

E-scooters had no doors, no handles, and therefore no excuses.

Earlier, Rachel hadnโ€™t even asked for help, and Tyler had gone out of his way to open the door for her.

Yet, even with the door open, Rachel didnโ€™t move.

โ€œWhat now? Want me to carry you in?โ€ Tyler asked.

โ€œNo!โ€

Just as he looked like he might actually do it, Rachel threw up her hands and hurried into the seat, buckling up like her life depended on it.

Tyler raised a brow, amused at her speed.

โ€œNow thatโ€™s fast. Next time I call you, I expect this level of enthusiasm.โ€

As they drove back to the apartment, Rachel grew uneasy thinking about everything that had happened at the Lewis family estate.

โ€œI really donโ€™t think you shouldโ€™ve brought me there today. You saw how it turned the whole place upside down.โ€

Tyler shot her a sideways glance, as if he could see right through her.

โ€œForget all that. Just tell me, did it feel good?โ€

Rachel was stunned for a moment. She then nodded honestly.

โ€œYeah, it did.โ€

She wasnโ€™t going to lie. Seeing William humiliated, fuming, and helpless had been incredibly satisfying.

Karma always had a way of coming back to those who did evil.

Tyler, by nature, was built to deal with people who didnโ€™t know their place.

Tyler smirked. โ€œThatโ€™s what I thought.โ€

โ€œBut now youโ€™ve thrown me into the fire. Did you see the way your relatives were looking at me? They were ready to eat me alive!โ€

She could practically hear the rumors alreadyโ€”calling her a homewrecker, the woman who turned uncle and nephew against each other, dragging the Lewis family name through the mud.

If word got out about their relationship, itโ€™d rock society like an earthquake.

โ€œI already told you. Even if weโ€™re only pretending to date, as long as youโ€™re my girlfriend, I wonโ€™t let anyone mess with you.โ€

Rachel was just about to get emotional when he added, โ€œAs the saying goes, you donโ€™t mess with someoneโ€™s dog unless youโ€™re ready to deal with the owner.โ€

Rachel was speechless.
