Chapter 314

Reynaldo snorted coldly at me, then rushed to the door, retrieving a cigarette case and preparing to smoke. He suddenly remembered something and irritably put the cigarette away. Reynaldo had been impatient with me from the start, so fearing he would grow more so while I waited, I quickly grabbed my scarf and went to check out.

There were several people checking out, so I had to wait for a few minutes. When I emerged from the store, Reynaldo was standing outside, hands in his pockets. It was cold, and he exuded an even colder aura, giving the impression of someone unapproachable. Several pretty girls walked past, glancing at him frequently, yet none dared to speak to him.

I was terrified of Reynaldoโ€™s sinister presence. I approached cautiously and called out, โ€œMr. Humphrey, Iโ€™ve bought it. Sorry to keep you waiting.โ€ Reynaldo turned, his face as sinister and terrifying as Iโ€™d imagined. He impatiently said, โ€œIf youโ€™re hungry, go eat. Donโ€™t dawdle.โ€

โ€œOh,โ€ I whispered, quickly draping the scarf around his neck as he turned. He paused, his gaze deep, and asked, โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€ I tiptoed, wrapping the scarf around his neck several times before pulling it up to cover his mouth and nose. Half his face was concealed, revealing only a pair of dark, fierce eyes.

Reynaldo frowned and asked again, โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€ His tone was thick with impatience. I couldnโ€™t tell him Iโ€™d bought the scarf because his handsome face attracted so much attention, so I said, โ€œThe nights here are cold; I bought you a scarf to keep warm.โ€

Otherwise, he might get angry again. This man had a notoriously bad temper; one couldn't trifle with him.

After a moment's thought, I added, โ€œThe nights here are too cold, Iโ€™ll buy you a scarf to keep you warm.โ€ Reynaldoโ€™s gaze deepened as he looked into my eyes. He stared for several seconds, then chuckled, โ€œAre you really that kind-hearted?โ€

Although I wasnโ€™t kind-hearted, the scarf wasnโ€™t solely to protect him from the cold. Does he really need to keep mocking me like this? Shouldnโ€™t he say thank you when someone buys him something? He spoke in such an unpleasant way. Reynaldoโ€™s face was half-covered, his expression unclear, but his eyes remained dark and inscrutable.

I muttered, โ€œYou always suspect my motives. Why keep me around then? Are you keeping a tiger as a pet?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t you know? Sometimes, tormenting people can be fun.โ€

I mocked myself inwardly; he kept me around simply to torture me. Talking to this man was incredibly frustrating. I lowered my gaze, pursed my lips, and remained silent. Suddenly, a warm, large hand took mine.

I looked up, but only saw his back. He pulled me forward, saying, โ€œStop dawdling. Donโ€™t blame me if you get hungry later.โ€ I stared blankly at his hand; his hands were strikingly beautifulโ€”clean, slender, with well-defined joints.

20:44

One hand completely enveloped mine.
