Chapter 313
I opened the car door and stepped out. Reynaldo followed silently. The night market, and the morning market, were the most vibrant places in life. Night markets in every city seemed similar: some areas sold miscellaneous small items and clothing; others specialized in food.
Before my family's bankruptcy, I'd never visited such markets. Since then, relying on myself, I've found these places quite nice, possessing a strong sense of human connection and life. From a different perspective, my family's bankruptcy led me to experience the life of an ordinary person.
Reynaldo and I walked side-by-side. I looked around, admiring the small detailsโmy eyes almost couldn't take it all in. Reynaldo, however, walked straight ahead, like a piece of wood, without glancing about. His inherent handsomeness, height, and physique made him stand out on these streets, causing frequent glances and whispers from passersby.
I even heard a few whispered conversations: "Oh my god, such a handsome manโhow could he have found such an ordinary girlfriend?" "Yeah, she just doesn't seem good enough for him." "It's too heart-wrenching; why are handsome men often paired with ugly women?"
Ugh! The discussion became increasingly excessive. I considered myself no goddess, but I wasn't ugly either. Even without makeup, my appearance was acceptable, my features distinctive. Yet, they called me ugly! These comments were annoying. It would have been better if we'd had masks to conceal Reynaldo's "flirtatious" face.
Just then, I noticed a shop selling handicrafts and small goods. The products appeared delicate and unique, attracting many young couples. When I entered, Reynaldo followed and asked coldly, "Didn't you say you were hungry and wanted to eat?" "I'm not in a hurry; let's walk first," I replied without looking back.
He snorted, his tone colder, "You're not in a hurry, but I am! Esmeralda, don't waste my time tonightโฆ"
"Ah, forget it," I interrupted, unable to bear it any longer. This man was obsessed with the idea of "having children, having children," all the time. With so many people in the shop, if I hadn't interrupted, he would have likely announced his plans to have a baby with me to the whole world! There was no shame in this man.
Reynaldo stared coldly, his face grim. He sighed, saying coldly, "Have I been too good to you recently that you dare shout at me? And in such an impatient tone!" "Esmeralda, just say it if you're tired of living!"
I:... This man can be quite scary when serious. I shouted, "No, I didn't yell at you. Calm down, wait for me; I'll buy something and leave."
Feeling depressed. In the past, yelling at him was common. He never dared to speak back, but nowโฆ Ah, forget it; the past cannot be recalled.
