Chapter 331: A Misunderstanding
Although the staff were well-behaved and didn't dare look around improperly, Summer still felt a little embarrassed. Fraserโs dark eyes gleamed as his grip on her wrist loosened, shifting to hold her hand instead. His thumb brushed lightly over her fingertips before slowly interlacing her fingers. His voice was lazy yet seductive. โWhat are you afraid of? Youโre the master of this house.โ
Summer was speechless. Arguing with him about such things was pointless, so she simply changed the subject. โI remember youโve known Xavier for a long time. Whatโs his outlook likeโespecially when it comes to relationships?โ
Xavier again? This woman had just returned and had already been chatting nonstop with me, her ever-present admiration practically sparkling. And now she was asking me about Xavier?
Fraserโs mood soured, his tone laced with irritation. โWhy are you asking about him?โ
Even though Yvette was fearless when it came to love, I still wanted a full understanding of whether Xavier is suitable to be a boyfriend or not. And since Fraser was his best friend, he would know best. She tugged lightly at his arm, her voice sweet and coaxing. โJust tell me, okay?โ
Now she was seducing me for the sake of another man? From now on, Xavier was banned from setting foot here!
Fraser didnโt even blink. โHeโs a playboy.โ
Summerโs eyes widened. โNo way!โ If that was true, Yvette was in trouble!
Fraser mercilessly piled on. โSmooth-talking, unfaithful, irresponsibleโa certified scumbag.โ The more Summer listened, the more something felt off. Then Fraser added in a smug, lazy tone, โSo you donโt need to know about other men. Just focus on me.โ
Only then did Summer realize Fraser had misunderstood. She nearly fainted from exasperation.
โOh.โ Hearing this, Fraser relaxed, his expression returning to normal. Not a trace of guilt remained for his earlier slander. โThen heโs quite passable.โ
Summer frowned. โWhat do you mean, passable? Explainโฆ clearly.โ Even if it was for someone elseโs sake, Fraser didnโt like hearing Summer talk about other men. His possessiveness over her was overwhelming.
Suddenly, he reached out, cupped the back of her head, and kissed her, swallowing the rest of her words. The faint taste of coffee and his masculine scent enveloped her. Their bodies pressed close, the air between them thick with intimacy. Summer didnโt resist. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck, responding to his kiss with unexpected tenderness.
Feeling her initiative, Fraserโs gaze darkened. When Summer pulled back slightly and opened her eyes, she was met with his deep, dangerous stare. Realizing he had witnessed her wholehearted participation, her cheeks burned with embarrassment.
Annoyed, she huffed, โDidnโt you say weโre supposed to close our eyes when kissing? Why didnโt you?โ
Fraserโs eyes gleamed as he traced her slightly swollen lips, a faint, amused smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. His low voice was laced with indulgence. โFine, Iโll close them.โ
Summer was speechless. She turned her face away. โNo more kissing!โ
Seeing the pink tint even reaching her ears, Fraser let out a deep, rumbling laugh. He lowered his voice to coax her. โI was wrong. I shouldnโt have watched you kiss me. I shouldโve kept my eyes shut, okay? How about thisโIโll kiss you, and you can stare at me the whole time.โ
His teasing words made Summerโs entire neck flush. โNo!โ
Just then, Fraserโs phone rang. Summer tried to stand up from his lap, but his arm tightened around her waist, keeping her in place as he answered the call.
As she studied his handsome face up closeโhis long lashes, deep-set eyes, the faint dimple that appeared when he smiledโshe realized something. For a long time now, no matter when I turned around, he had always been there behind me, never leaving. Today, Yvetteโs encouragement to confess had stuck with me. I want to find the right moment. I will tell Fraser everything. And ifโฆ if he ended up angry with meโฆ well, Iโd just use the baby to soften his heart. Surely, for the childโs sake, heโd forgive meโฆ
Lost in thought, she didnโt notice Fraser had already hung up until his lazy voice sounded above her. โCome with me later to the birthday banquet for Granthera Bankโs former chairman?โ
