Chapter 268: Hospital Emergency
Inside the room, Summer scanned the menuโall diet, with spicy options. Not my preference. I had dined with Merry several times before; she knew my preferences well. So why todayโฆ?
A sudden realization hit her. When she had first entered, the restaurant had been almost empty and shabby, and the serversโ eyes had held a strange glint. And now, this private room with a round table large enough for ten people; nothing about it suggested an intimate meal for two.
She tossed the menu aside and got up to leave. Then, a strange, sweet scent wafted in through the windows. Summer took barely two steps before the scent hit her. Dizziness washed over her like a wave. Instinctively, she clutched at her stomach, but the drug worked quickly. Her vision blurred, her limbs grew heavy, and darkness swallowed her consciousness.
The door creaked open. Sienna stepped inside, waving a hand in front of her nose to clear the lingering fumes. Her venomous eyes locked on the unconscious woman slumped at the table. A grotesque smile curled her lips.
โSummer Stewartโฆ After tonight, youโll join me in hell.โ
She pulled out her phone. โMr. Philip, the gift for you is ready. Delivering it now.โ
Outside the restaurant, Merry paced the curb, her stomach churning with unease. Something about Siennaโs demeanor didnโt match her supposed remorse; it felt calculated, sinister.
A taxi pulled up. The driver called out, โMiss, hurry up, youโre blocking traffic!โ
The call snapped Merry into action. No. I have to get back. She sprinted toward the restaurant, her pace quickening to a frantic run. She burst into the private room and found it empty; only the acrid aftertaste of burnt incense hung in the air.
Merry grabbed a passing waiter. โWhere are the people from this room?โ
The man shrugged. โGone.โ
โWhere?โ Merry was flustered.
โNo idea.โ
Merryโs nails dug into her palms. โTwo women or one?โ
โNo idea.โ โWere they awake orโฆโ โNo idea.โ
Chapter 269: Hospital Emergency
Meanwhile, in a luxury hotel, Sienna, dressed in a black dress with a scarf covering her face, moved furtively down the hallway. Beside her, a bribed restaurant worker carried Summerโs limp form, a long cloak draped over her from head to toe.
Just then the elevator dinged. Lucas stepped out, fresh from a business dinner. As the doors slid open, Siennaโs group nearly collided with him. The cloak covering Summer slipped, revealing a strand of auburn hair. Sienna yanked it back up with panicked haste.
Lucas glanced at the bundle, but he caught only that fleeting glimpse before the fabric was concealed again. Siennaโs heart pounded. She ducked her head, not daring to meet his eyes. Lucas stepped out, frowning. A familiar scent lingered in the air. He turned. The elevator doors hissed shut, but not before he caught Siennaโs guilty, shifty look.
In the hotel suite, Philip swaggered in, his beady eyes fixed on the figure sprawled across the bed. The woman wore a pale blue blouse and a gray pencil skirt that hugged every curve. Porcelain skin. Lips like crushed roses. The kind of beauty that begged to be destroyed.
Desire ignited in Philipโs gaze. He landed a hard slap on Siennaโs backside.
โYouโre a sick bitch, betraying your own kind. But I love it.โ
Sienna covered her disgust with a chuckle and slinked away. โMr. Philip. I did this for you. After tonight, youโll haveโฆโ
Philip shoved a credit card between her breasts. โNow fuck off. Donโt interrupt myโฆโ
Outside. Sienna leaned against the door and exhaled. โDonโt blame me, Summer. You brought this on yourself.โ
With that, she walked away. Philip loomed over the bed, unbuckling his belt with a predatorโs grin. The leather slid free with a hiss.
The button popped open.
