Chapter 256: Named After Her

โ€œIt means you. My Summer. I built this for you.โ€

The words surged into Summerโ€™s heart like a sudden wave of warmth, making her eyes tear up. She blinked and asked softly, โ€œBut this hotel was built only three years ago. You didnโ€™t even know me back then.โ€

โ€œWe met at a banquet three years ago.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t tell me you fell in love with me at first sight and built this hotel for me?โ€ Summer didnโ€™t believe that nonsense.

Fraser smiled. โ€œSummer, donโ€™t you want to know who originally adopted Pudding?โ€

Summer froze. The woman who adopted Pudding was his first love. She couldnโ€™t help but look up, meeting his gaze. In his eyes, she saw her own reflection. Something was on the verge of revealing itself. Her heart suddenly raced, pounding so fast that her ears could no longer pick up any other sound.

She asked in a daze, โ€œWhoโ€ฆ is it?โ€

Suddenly, an ill-timed ringtone broke the silence. It was Fraserโ€™s phone. He pulled it out, saw the number, and declined the call. But the phone rang again, demanding attention.

Summerโ€™s heartbeat gradually steadied as she stepped out of his embrace. โ€œYou should answer it.โ€

Fraser glanced at her before pressing the phone to his ear. โ€œHello?โ€

โ€œMr. Graham, Mr. Maximus had a relapse. Heโ€™s been taken to the hospital!โ€ Fraserโ€™s brows immediately furrowed into a deep knot.

After ending the call, he looked troubled. โ€œI have to go. Iโ€™ll send someone to take you back later.โ€

Summer couldnโ€™t tell how she felt. She pretended to be fine. โ€œOkay.โ€

Fraser reached the door but turned back to see her slender, lonely figure. His steps abruptly changed direction. He walked back to her and said, โ€œGrandpa had a relapse. Stay here tonight. Iโ€™ll come back after Iโ€™m done, alright?โ€

At Graham Group Hospital. Outside the operating room, the atmosphere remained solemn and cold. Helen paced anxiously, supported by the butler.

Fraser walked in. The moment Helen saw him, she clung to his hand, her voice filled with emotion as she said, โ€œMy dear grandson, youโ€™re finally hereโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhat happened this time?โ€

The butler shook his head. Fraser frowned. At that moment, the double doors of the operating room swung open. The hospital director and the attending doctor stepped out.

Helenโ€™s voice trembled with fear. โ€œHow is he? This timeโ€ฆ heโ€™ll be okay, right?โ€

The attending doctor sighed. โ€œMadam Graham, Mr. Grahamโ€ฆ my condolences.โ€

Hearing those words, Helen staggered, her body shaking violently. Then, she shouted in fury, โ€œCondolences? What condolences! The Graham family paid so much money to support you doctors! And this is the result of your treatment? I donโ€™t believe it! Fraser, get foreign specialists immediately!โ€

The hospital director spoke, โ€œMr. Graham, you should go in and see him while thereโ€™s still time.โ€

Tears streamed down Helenโ€™s face. Fraserโ€™s expression darkened. He nodded, supporting Helen as they stepped inside.

Maximus, who had dominated the business world for decades, now lay on the hospital bed. His face was pale as his life hungโ€ฆ

Group must always flourish.

Fraserโ€™s eyes turned red. He stepped forward, grasping his grandfatherโ€™s hand tightly. โ€œI swear it.โ€

โ€œAnd your grandmotherโ€ฆ she has lived a life of luxury. If one dayโ€ฆ she makes a mistakeโ€ฆ forgive her.โ€

With those final words, Maximusโ€™s hand slipped from Fraserโ€™s grasp. Maximusโ€ฆ Helen cried out in agony before collapsing into unconsciousness.

Summer Hotel. Summer waited all night, but Fraser never returned. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, she gazed at Havenbrookโ€™s river. The moonlight shimmered, casting a glow over the jed flowers, making it look like a dream.

Among the roses, blue roses, lisianthus, and camellias, Summer searched for answers. She pulled out her phone and looked up. They all shared a common meaningโ€”โ€œA love that is one of a kind.โ€

She wasnโ€™t sure if it was just a coincidence. All she knew was that she was in trouble. She could hear it clearly, deep inside her; part of her was falling, and her resolve was wavering. God would punish her for being fickle. But love was urging her to just be a little braver.

Summer plucked a vibrant red rose, peeling off the petals one by one while whispering to herselfโ€ฆ
