Chapter 139: The Fall
As Trevorโs words fell, a flicker of pain flashed in Summerโs eyes. She felt like she was crazy, to have given Trevor one last glimmer of hope. Meanwhile, Peytonโs eyes lit up, and her gaze subtly shifted to Summer. Her eyes seemed to say, Summer, youโll always be my loser.
The kidnapper led Peyton forward. He crouched down, quickly grabbed the bag of money, and pushed her towards Trevor.
Once freed, Peyton immediately threw herself into Trevorโs arms, wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, and buried her face in his chest. โTrevor, thank you. I knew you wouldnโt let me down.โ
Trevor stood there without answering. His hands hung stiffly at his sides, clenched into fists, and his entire body radiated a fierce, oppressive aura. He thought he saw a glimmer of mockery and disappointment in Summerโs eyes. Trevorโs heart had never hurt so much. It felt like a sword had pierced it, leaving him bleeding and trembling with pain. He felt as if he had lost this woman all over again.
After taking the money, the two kidnappers exchanged a glance. They quickly dragged Summer towards the mountain path. The mountain stretched for hundreds of kilometers, vast and densely forested. The sky was getting dark. The two men knew the terrain; once they disappeared into the forest, it would be almost impossible to find them. The kidnappers were carrying the big black bag, heavy with stacks of red banknotes. They were about to get rich! Was Trevor just a fool with too much money? They had only released Peyton but had taken the full six million dollars.
Summer was dragged along, her hands struggling against the ropes, her mind racing to find a way to save herself. Trevor saw the kidnappers sneaking away and handed Peyton to Josh. โTake care of her!โ With that, he immediately ran after them.
โTrevorโฆ Trevorโฆโ Josh sneered. โLet him go. It will be interesting if he finds a body.โ
Hearing that, Josh felt that everything he had done for her was worth it. He wrapped his arms tightly around her soft, fragrant body and buried his face in her hair to inhale her scent.
On the other side of the mountain, the two kidnappers ran ahead, pulling Summer by the rope tied around her hands. โMove faster!โ โYou really have a bad taste in men. First time, second time, Trevor never chose you. Why donโt you come with us? Hahaha.โ
They had promised Peyton and Josh; once they got the money, they would kill Summer. But seeing how beautiful and delicate she was, they couldnโt help but feel reluctant.
The two kidnappers stopped under a secluded tree. They exchanged a glance. Summer sensed that something was wrong and instinctively stepped back. โWhat are you doing?โ The kidnappers said, โHow about having a sweet game with us?โ โWho goes first?โ Summerโs heart pounded, fear gripping her. I couldnโt die here.
Taking advantage of the kidnappersโ momentary distraction, she pulled free of the rope and ran. The kidnappers, realizing what had happened, cursed in frustration. โDamn it! After her!โ
Summer was chased to the edge of a cliff. The heavy, urgent footsteps of the kidnappers came closer, like the drumbeat of doom. She had nowhere to go. The kidnappersโ faces twisted into lecherous grins as they approached. โMs. Stewart, just give in. Donโt worry, weโll make it worthwhile.โ
As they rushed towards her, a figure suddenly appeared behind them and delivered a powerful kick. Trevor stood upright, his face filled with rage, his teeth clenched. โTouch her and youโre dead.โ With that, all the pent-up anger inside him erupted. He began to viciously beat the two kidnappers. One kidnapper was quickly knocked down. The other tried to grab Summer as a hostage in the chaos.
