Chapter 117: Falling Into a Dream
Summer finally left her mark on Fraserโs thin lips. Fraser never expected her to kiss him like that. His gaze flickered, and he let out a rough, ragged breath. His Adamโs apple rolled sharply; the sound of his breathing was unusually loud on the dark rooftop. Summer was just about to pull away when Fraserโs large palm pressed against the back of her head, forcing her back into a deep, searing kiss. His kiss was intenseโsometimes teasing, sometimes wildโdevouring the lingering sweetness of her lips. Warm breaths intertwined as their lips met again and again. Summer felt like she was drowning in his kiss.
Fireworks still burst brilliantly in the sky. In the corner of the rooftop, Trevorโs eyes were bloodshot, so red they seemed to be bleeding. His gaze locked onto the passionate scene in the distance, unwavering. His hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into fists so tight that veins bulged along the backs of them.
Tonight was Summerโs birthday party. Trevor had unknowingly driven to the Stewart Mansion. He never went inside; he didnโt want to upset her on her special day. On the passenger seat lay nearly ten phones. Summer had blocked him. Every time he sent a message, she ignored it. Left with no choice, he bought ten phones, sending her messages whenever he missed her. Today was her birthday. He still couldnโt hold back. He sent one anyway. Right after he hit send, Peyton called again. He didnโt answer. Peyton was better now; he didnโt need to protect her anymore.
It suddenly hit him that every year on this day, he had abandoned Summer to be with Peyton. For the first time, guilt and self-loathing flooded his heart. Just then, guests began trickling out of the Stewart Mansion, chatting as they left. Someone spotted him in the car and immediately fell silent. Trevor pushed open the door, stepped out, and grabbed someone to ask what had happened tonight. Summer was in the passenger seat. Trevor slammed his foot on the gas, following close behind.
And now, right in front of him, the woman who should have been his lay in another manโs arms, kissing him deeply. A sharp pain twisted in his chest, as if a blade was slicing him apart, piece by piece. His hands and feet trembled uncontrollably, and his entire body felt hollowed out by pain. The smile on Summerโs face, the familiar love in her eyes, were crystal clear. Trevor had never been jealous or hated before. He had always thought Summer still loved him. But at this moment, he felt utterly ridiculous.
Trevor swallowed the murderous urge clawing at his throat. His jaw tightened, his footsteps heavy as lead as he took one step forward, then, in the end, he turned and left.
Meanwhile, Fraser didnโt release Summer until she was nearly breathless. Her face burned. She looked up, meeting his dark, smoldering gaze, waves of intensity swirling in his eyes. Her heart pounded wildly in her chest. There was no way she was letting things go any further on a rooftop. She pushed against his chest, sitting up and brushing stray strands of hair behind her ear. She waited for her heartbeat to steady before shifting the topic. โWhy did you trust it wasnโt me?โ
Without even checking the security footage, he had unconditionally stood by her, believed in her. Fraser sat up lazily, his eyes lingering on the flush at the tips of her ears. His voice was still husky, seductive. โWhether you did it or not doesnโt matter. Youโre my girlfriend. You think Iโd let anyone bully you?โ
Summerโs clear, damp eyes lifted toward the dazzling sky. Her voice was soft. โDonโt be so good to me. Iโm afraid Iโll fall into a dream so sweet, so intoxicating, that when you leave one day, Iโll never be able to wake up. So, Fraser, donโt be so good to meโฆโ
Fraser leaned back slightly, his tone light and teasing. โFine, then, Ms. Stewart, itโs your turn to be good to me.โ With that, he guided her hand toward the warmth of his body. Summer gasped and yanked her hand back, her face heating even more. Her entire body burned. Her voice carried a soft, accusatory whimper. โPervert! Is that all you ever think about?โ
His eyes gleamed with amusement. โI didnโt even say anything.โ
โLike hell you didnโt. He has literally taken my hand andโฆโ
โBastard!โ
Yvetteโs career had taken a nosedive lately, faster than a waterfall crashing down.
