Chapter 113: A Fireworks Show
Fraser stood up, took the towel beside him, and slowly wiped his fingers with deliberate elegance. As if the ruthless man who had just beaten someone wasnโt him. He cast a glance at Julia, his expression indifferent. โAre you sure it was Summer?โ
Summer paused for a few seconds, her face darkening. โI didnโt do it.โ
Fraserโs face remained cold, but when he looked at her, his gaze softened, like rippling water, his voice laced with lazy mischief. โWell, pushing her isnโt a big deal. Better you push someone than be pushed yourself. If she ends up crippled, Iโll handle it. But if youโre crippled, whoโs going to compensate me?โ
Everyone was speechless. What kind of overbearing logic is that? Julia nearly fainted from his unreasonable and domineering words.
โMr. Graham, I know you hold a lofty status, but Summer and Margaret are my daughters. This is the Stewart familyโs affair. Arenโt you afraid of becoming a laughingstock for using your power to pressure others if word gets out?โ
Fraser lifted his eyes, glancing at Summerโs pale face with a meaningful look. โSheโs sensitive. If she takes this loss quietly, sheโll probably make a fuss with me tonight. Letโs settle this now.โ
Summer was speechless. Like hell Iโd make a fuss with himโฆ
Jasper said, โThereโs no surveillance inside the Stewart Mansionโs rooms, only in the hallways. The servants just showed me the footage. Margaret entered the room first, then Summer. When Harvey walked in, Margaret fell right after. Heโs the only eyewitness.โ
โOh?โ Fraser took out his phone. โPull up the rooftop surveillance from Astralis Tower.โ
Astralis Tower was the high-rise directly across from the Stewart Mansion. Margaret felt as if a hand had grabbed her heart in the darkness. She reassured herself. Even if there was surveillance in the building opposite, the distance was too far to capture anything clearly. Yet she still felt uneasy.
Fraser reached out and gently brushed Summerโs hair away from her forehead, his touch both tender and cautious. His lips curled in a half-smile. โWhat a shame. I had a fireworks show planned as a surprise for you tonight, and now itโs ruined.โ
As for the high-definition video recording, he had thought women liked to keep memories of occasions, so he had arranged for every moment of the night to be captured. Summerโs heart trembled. A thousand emotions struck her like an arrow to the heart. Her clear, bright eyes turned misty as she stared at him, stunned.
The man was dignified, steady, and untouchable, always in control, as if everything was within his grasp. Fraserโs deep black eyes locked onto hers, the corners of his lips lifting slightly. โDonโt seduce me in front of all these peopleโฆโ
Summer remained silent. Even now, this man still wonโt take things seriously. The wave of emotions that had just surged through her instantly scattered. And with it came an inexplicable sense of embarrassment. The heaviness and frustration in her heart eased slightly under its influence.
Before long, two professionals dressed in black carried over a large camera. โMr. Graham, the footage you requested has been copied to this device.โ
Fraser took it, his gaze dark and deep as he tapped on the screen, scrolling through the video with his long fingers. Everyone held their breath, watching his every move intently. His finger suddenly stopped. He raised an eyebrow, then handed the device to the black-clad man beside him. โPlay this part.โ
The crowd exchanged glances. Could that camera really have captured what happened inside a room over three thousand feet away? What kind of surveillance footage is this?
The man followed the order, pointing the massive camera at the Stewart Mansionโs white wall as if using it as a screen. Soon, a video flickered to life before everyoneโs eyes. Margaret broke out in a cold sweat, her body numb to pain as sheer terror consumed her like a beast.
Julia assumed she was afraid of watching herself fall and tried to comfort her. โDonโt worry, I believe you. If thereโs footage, weโll see everything clearly. That way, Mr. Graham canโt accuse our family of wrongdoing.โ
Margaret clutched Juliaโs dress, her pupils trembling. Her voice was shaky. โMomโฆ letโs not watchโฆโ
The moment she finished speaking, an eerily familiar female voice echoed from the video.
