Chapter 111: Lock Her Up!
Julia and Jasper heard the commotion and rushed over, pushing through the crowd. The moment they arrived, they saw Margaret covered in wounds, her legs bleeding, looking utterly miserable.
Julia hurried forward and held her tightly, her voice filled with worry. โMargaret, what happened? How did you fall from the second floor? Someone call a doctor!โ
At that moment, Harvey mercilessly grabbed Summer and threw her into the middle of the crowd without hesitation. Summer crashed to the ground once again.
Harveyโs voice was chilling. โShe was the one who pushed Margaret out of the second-floor window.โ
Margaret clung to Julia, leaning against her chest, sobbing. โMom, Harvey, it hurts so muchโฆ Am I going to die?โ
Julia saw Margaret drenched in cold sweat from the pain, and in an instant, fury erupted in her chest. โSummer, Margaret is your sister! How could you be so cruel? I regret bringing you back three years ago!โ
Jasper stood there, his face dark as he watched the crowd treat this as mere entertainment. โHarvey, are you sure about this? Are you saying Summer pushed Margaret down?โ
Harvey, like a righteous avenger, spoke loudly. โDad, I saw it clearly with both my eyes! Summer pushed Margaret! We canโt shelter a murderer in this family. She has to be sent to prison for life!โ
The crowd broke into another wave of heated discussion.
โDid Summer really push her? But today is her birthday. Why would she do that?โ
โWho knows? People are greedy. Maybe she wanted to get rid of Margaret for good.โ
โBut pushing someone in front of everyone? Thatโs too reckless. Something feels off.โ
โWhatโs off about it? Summer grew up in poverty. You have no idea how malicious those kinds of people can be!โ
Hearing the murmurs and accusations, Summer felt a bone-chilling cold seep into her entire body. Margaret had really succeeded in completely ruining her. But she couldnโt fall. She couldnโt let these people see her break. Even if no one believed her, she would never surrender to them.
Her nails dug into her palm as she gritted her teeth and spat out, โI didnโt push her. Margaret fell on her own trying to frame me? Harvey saw everything! No one will believe you!โ
Julia closed her eyes for a moment, her voice hoarse. โTake Summer to the police. I donโt have such a ruthless daughter.โ
At her words, Summer laughed. But tears welled up in her eyes as she did.
Jasper was silent for a moment. โIf we hand her over to the police now, what will that do to our familyโs reputation? Right now, our priority is treating Margaret. Lock Summer up for now; weโll handle this later.โ
Summer wiped the tears from her face until not a single drop remained. With an expressionless face, she said, โI didnโt do it. You have no right to punish me.โ
Harveyโs expression darkened when he heard that Jasper wasnโt handing Summer over to the police. Just letting her go like that? Rage burned through his veins.
โDad, if you want to settle this privately, fine. But Margaretโs suffering canโt go unanswered! That bitch Summer deserves to be punished!โ
With that, Harveyโs expression turned vicious as he strode toward Summer. The next second, he lifted his right leg, aiming to kick her straight into the swimming pool.
But before his foot could touch her, a sudden โAh!โ rang out. Harvey was sent flying from behind, his body arcing through the air before crashing straight into the pool, sending water splashing everywhere.
For a brief moment, everyoneโs eyes snapped toward the tall, imposing man standing there. Dressed in a black suit, he exuded a chilling presence, as if he alone could command the entire world. His deep, piercing gaze locked onto Harvey, and his voice was ice-cold. โDo you think you have the right to punish my woman? Who the hell do you think you are?โ
Then, Fraserโs dark, menacing eyes fell on the woman sitting on the ground. Summerโs face was deathly pale, blood staining the corner of her lips. Her wrists were red and swollen, and she could barely sit upright. Her expensive gown was torn at the hem, leaving her looking utterly disheveled, like a lone leaf caught in a violent storm, moments away from being crushed.
Damn it. I was only a few minutes late, how did she end up like this? A surge of fury erupted in Fraserโs chest. With a cold expression, he strode forward, took off his jacket, and draped it over Summerโs shoulders.
In Havenbrook, everyone knew that Fraser might seem easygoing on the surface, but that was just an illusion. When he got serious, there was nothing he wouldnโt do. And once he set his sights on something, no one in Havenbrook could stand in his way.
