Chapter 348

As the hospital room door closed, Josiah's face darkened. His hands clenched tightly in silence. Seeing his troubled expression, Zach frowned and lowered his head in shame. "Mr. Flynn, it's my fault everything went wrong."

Cedric had reached Sienna first, putting Josiah at a significant disadvantage. But Josiah couldn't blame Zach or Cedric. He should be thankful to Cedric; as Cedric had said, without his intervention, Sienna might have died. Josiah closed his eyes, acknowledging that losing Sienna was worse than Cedric gaining the upper hand.

"It's alright," Josiah murmured, his gaze fixed on the hospital room door. "Just wait." Waiting was all they could do. What mattered was that Sienna was safe. Still, Josiah wondered if Sienna had been thinking of Cedric all along. From the beginning, Sienna had never truly accepted him; she had always harbored feelings for Cedric. Now, with Cedric risking his life to save her again, Josiah feared Sienna might reconcile with him.

Sienna lay quietly on the hospital bed, an oxygen mask covering her face. As she heard footsteps, she slowly opened her eyes. Cedric approached gently, standing by her bedside, careful not to startle her. He spoke softly and slowly. "How are you feeling?"

Sienna opened her mouth to respond. "Don't speak," Cedric interrupted, worried. "The nurse said you're too weak. Just blink or nod." Sienna smiled faintly and blinkedโ€”her way of saying she was fine.

"That's good to hear," Cedric said, his eyes misting as he fought to remain composed. He took her hand. "You really scared me. Thank goodness." He chuckled lightly. "The nurse mentioned you were calling for me earlier." In a shaky voice, he added, "You were worried about me, weren't you?" Sienna nodded silently. Cedric's eyes softened; he understood. "I'm fineโ€ฆ see, I'm okay."

Sienna looked at him quietly, then her gaze fell to his arm. Her voice was hoarse as she whispered, "Armโ€ฆ armโ€ฆ" She remembered how Cedric had shielded himself with his arm against the falling freight box.

"Arm?" Cedric understood, raising his injured arm and grimacing. "Ouch, it does hurt a bit!" He smiled casually. "I almost forgot until you mentioned it." Sienna frowned.

"Don't worry," Cedric assured her, squeezing her hand. "I'll take care of it shortly; I was just too anxious about you to pay attention. It's a minor injury, nothing serious."

But Sienna remained unconvinced; her frown deepened. Cedric chuckled. "I get it. I'll handle it right away; no need to rush." Releasing her hand, his smile faded slightly. "Sienna, Josiah is outside, waiting to see you. The nurse said only one visitor is allowed at a time, so I came in first."

Sienna frowned, shock and confusion filling her eyes. He actually came? Why is he here? Yvette must not need him right now. She remained thoughtful. Cedric said, "Sienna, I'll go and bring him in."

"Noโ€ฆ" she called out, her face pale; speaking nearly drained her.

"Sienna?" Cedric asked with concern, bending down. "What's wrong?"

Sienna shook her head, forcing out a rough whisper, "Noโ€ฆ himโ€ฆ"

"No him?" Cedric repeated, confusion evident. "Sienna, do you mean you don't want to see Josiah?"

Sienna nodded, tired and weak. There should be a resolution, but she was too exhausted for a confrontation. Though Cedric didn't fully understand, he supported her wishes. He nodded. "Okay. Rest well."

Sienna breathed a sigh of relief and closed her eyes. At the entrance, once Cedric stepped out, Josiah's gaze sharpened, and he moved forward. Cedric blocked his way. "You can't go in."

"Let go," Josiah glared, fury rising. "Do you really think you can stop me?"

"I can't stop you, but what about Sienna?" Cedric replied coldly, lowering his voice.

"What do you mean?" Josiah was taken aback. "What are you tryingโ€”"

"It's Sienna," Cedric said, holding Josiah's arm tightly. "Sienna said herself that she doesn't want to see you!"

"Bullshit!" Josiah shouted angrily. "Why wouldn't she want to see me?" He believed that her recent rejections didn't mean she didn't want to see him now.

"Cedric, stop trying to create problems! Do you think that because you saved her life, she belongs to you now? What a delusional thought! Step aside!" Josiah forcefully shook off Cedric's grip and pushed open the door.

"Josiah!" Cedric hissed, gritting his teeth. "You cannot go in! Sienna doesn't want to see you!"

The loud argument woke Sienna. She struggled to open her eyes, and when she saw Josiah, her head throbbed. Why on earth did he come? I've just been brought back from death's door; did he really think he could disturb my rest?

Josiah reached her bedside. Seeing the pale, fragile Sienna, his heart twisted with guilt and sorrow. "Siennaโ€ฆ" The moment he spoke, Sienna turned away, squeezing her eyes shut, making her rejection clear.

"Sienna?"

"Josiah," Cedric moved forward, trying to pull him away. "Don't you get it? Sienna truly doesn't want to see you!"

"Get away!" Josiah, anguish etched on his face, broke free and took Sienna's hand. "Sienna, what's wrong? Why did you refuse to see me?" The moment their hands touched, Sienna tensed, struggling in distress. Her blood oxygen levels dropped, and the monitor emitted a loud alarm.

"Sienna!" Cedric shouted in alarm, his face paling. "What's happening to you?" He quickly pressed the emergency call button. "VIP room 9, Sienna is not well!"

"We'll be there soon!"

Cedric glared furiously at Josiah. "Still not letting go! It's Sienna who doesn't want to see youโ€”"

Just then, the alarm grew sharper and more urgent.
