Her words made Keira laugh, and she didn’t bother with modesty. “It’s true, I’m under divine favor. Blessed by the Bodhisattva! Not only do things go my way, but anyone who sticks around me prospers too.”

“Really? Then I’m clinging to your golden coattails. By the way, when’s your grand opening? I need to show up and soak in the good luck vibes.”

“I didn’t even want an opening ceremony; it’s Hayden who insists,” Keira replied, leaning closer with a conspiratorial whisper. “Honestly, he’s becoming more and more conventional these days.”

“That’s not conventional; that’s called a sense of occasion. I’m siding with Hayden on this,” Lena declared confidently.

Keira shrugged. “Fine, we’ll do it if it makes you guys happy.”

“Look at you, acting all reluctant. You’ve clearly been spoiled by Hayden,” Lena teased with a playful grin.

She didn’t stay long, leaving after reminding Keira to take care of herself and not to forget her prenatal checkups.

After she left, Keira called Hayden. He’d been busy lately, often disappearing for hours at a time. When Keira asked him where he was going, he said he’d been at Ron’s place.

But to her surprise, Hayden didn’t answer the call. Keira realized she hadn’t left the courtyard in quite some time, so she gave instructions to the staff and drove over to Ron’s company.

“Director Kay!”

“Director Kay, long time no see!” The staff greeted her warmly, clearly delighted by her sudden visit.

“Where’s Engineer Hart? And Ron?” Keira asked.

“President Shane is upstairs, but Engineer Hart hasn’t been here for half a month,” the receptionist replied with a smile. “Are you here to inspect the place, Director Kay?”

Half a month? Hayden had been leaving the house every day, claiming he was coming here. Where had he really been going? And why had he lied to her?

Keira forced a smile. “That’s right.”

Heading upstairs, she knocked on Ron’s office door. His voice called out for her to enter, and when he saw her, he immediately stood up, surprised.

“Well, if it isn’t Director Kay! To what do I owe this rare visit?” he joked.

“The Mediterranean winds brought me,” Keira quipped back. “Hayden hasn’t been here recently, has he?”

Ron’s smile faltered slightly—clearly, the receptionist had let something slip. He chuckled awkwardly. “He hasn’t been to the office, but he’s been busy working for the company.”

“And where exactly has he been so busy that he can’t even answer my calls?” Keira stared at Ron, who couldn’t meet her eyes.

“I’ll call him right now and ask where he is. No matter how busy he is, he shouldn’t ignore his wife’s calls,” Ron said, reaching for his phone.

“President Shane,” Keira interrupted, addressing him formally. Ron looked up at her quickly. “What is Hayden hiding from me? Don’t tell me he’s keeping a mistress?”

“No, absolutely not! How could you even think that?” Ron waved his hands in panic, clearly horrified by the suggestion.

Of course, Keira didn’t truly believe it. She trusted Hayden, but his recent behavior had been odd, and she wanted answers.

She leaned forward. “Don’t call him. Start a video call. I’ve got something to say to him.”

Ron grimaced. “A video call? That’s so awkward between two guys…”

Keira didn’t respond, just gave him a pointed look. Ron sighed in defeat. “Alright, alright.”

He dialed the video call and placed the phone in front of her. It barely took two seconds for the call to connect, but instead of Hayden’s face, a woman’s voice greeted them from the screen.

“President Shane, long time no see.”
