Chapter 69
Julian had everything—power, wealth, and status. As his sister, Anya only wanted happiness for him. She hoped he would find a girl who loved him for himself, not for his possessions. And Roulic was that girl.
But Julian, having been placed on a pedestal and spoiled for so long, had forgotten what it meant to fall. When one is accustomed to looking down on others, they rarely understand the pain of hitting the ground.
Thinking about Julian's anxiety over Rosalie that night, Anya sighed inwardly. As an observer, she saw it clearly. But Julian, that emotionally stunted man, likely wouldn't even realize his feelings. Without a significant push, he'd remain oblivious forever.
“Maybe divorce is exactly what he needs,” Anya murmured, taking a slow sip of her drink. “Sometimes, one has to lose everything before they finally get what’s important.” She continued, “He needs to chase Rosalie. Only then will he understand the feeling of being ignored.”
Kaleb didn't comment. He sat in silence for a moment before casually mentioning, “I heard… the Palmer family is coming back.”
Anya's expression shifted at the mention of the Palmer family. Roseanne Palmer immediately came to mind.
Anya had never liked Roseanne. She couldn't pinpoint the reason, but something about her rubbed Anya the wrong way. Recalling the trouble Roseanne caused still made Anya's stomach churn.
Now that Roseanne was returning, Anya couldn't help but think of their past relationship with Julian. She wondered, could it…?
With that thought, Anya knitted her brows, displaying a disgusted expression. She snapped, “The Palmer family couldn't make it overseas, huh? Now they want to come back?”
