Chapter 68

Julian’s jaw tightened. He replied in a cold, clipped voice, “She’s not my ex-wife?”

Anya stared, caught off guard by his sudden retort. She thought, “Wait, out of everything I said, he only notices that word? He even corrects me?”

Julian looked her dead in the eyes. “As long as I don’t sign those papers, Rosalie will remain my wife.”

His thoughts were ruthless. “Ex-wife? She can dream about it.”

Anya let out a mocking laugh. “Oh, what now? Sudden epiphany? You do know you owe Rosalie too much, huh?”

Julian ignored her and turned to Kaleb, the only person in the room not actively trying to start a war.

“Kaleb,” he said seriously, “if you ever decide to divorce Anya, let me know. I’ll fully support you.”

With that, Julian carried Rosalie from the room. A pillow flew across the room, smacking him in the back of the head. Anya’s sharp voice followed. “You bastard! Your own marriage is a disaster, and you’ve got the nerve to drag my husband into it? You’re looking for a beating, huh?”

The door slammed shut. Julian didn’t even glance at Anya. Kaleb, unjustly dragged into the mess, immediately began damage control. “Babe, don’t worry. You’re the love of my life. Divorce will never happen.”

Anya scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Exactly. He’s just jealous. Can’t stand the fact that we’re happier than he is.”

Kaleb chuckled and rubbed her shoulder. He casually asked, “You sure about pushing him like that? What if he really does divorce Rosalie?”

Anya snorted. “Relax. Maybe then he’ll finally realize what an idiot he’s been. He had a perfectly good wife and treated her like crap. If he wants to keep playing stupid games, let him. Maybe when he loses her for real, he’ll finally get a taste of what regret feels like.”

Anya might talk big, but deep down, she cared deeply about her brother-in-law. She’d spoiled him since childhood. She knew Julian was far too calm and cool. She wished he’d stop acting like an emotionless robot. His approach to relationships was always cold, calculated, and distant. No wonder every woman close to him ended up hurt.
