Chapter 51

Now, with Isaac gone, the divorce Julian had intended from the moment he married was finally set in motion. But what Julian hadn't expected was that Rosalie, the woman who once clung to him so persistently, was now letting go without a fight. She agreed to the divorce without hesitation, without drama, as if it mattered not at all.

What he hadn't anticipated even more was that when she stopped chasing him, his own heart became unsettled, disoriented. Rosalie saw him standing there, his face darkened with silence, but she showed no interest in his racing thoughts. Seizing the moment, while he was distracted, she swiftly extricated herself.

She smoothed her blouse, creased from his grip, and steadied her faint, erratic heartbeat, stirred by the unexpected embrace. Then, in a voice as calm as ever, she said, “Mr. Galloway, I hope you will cooperate and finalize the divorce as soon as possible. I’ve already wasted far too much time on you. I’d rather not drag this out unnecessarily.”

With that, she didn't spare him another glance, turning on her heel and walking out.

This house, with all its warmth, had never belonged to her. No matter how cozy it seemed, it had always felt suffocating. Julian listened to her cool, composed words, each syllable delivered without the slightest tremor. There was no resentment, no bitterness, no childish attempt to provoke him. It was merely a statement of fact, a notification; a notification that left no room for negotiation.

At that moment, a familiar sense of panic crashed over Julian like a tidal wave. Before he could think, his hand shot out, gripping Rosalie’s wrist with alarming force. She winced, her brows knitting together in pain as she turned back to face him, her gaze locking onto his. His expression remained cold, but beneath the surface, a storm brewed—something dark, something complicated.

“Is there anything else?” she asked, her voice steady despite the slight crease between her brows. Then she added, “If you have any further issues regarding the divorce, you can ask Mr. Carson to discuss them with me. As for Graham Villa, I suggest you stop coming here. You don’t need all this mess cluttering up your life, Mr. Galloway.”
