Chapter 202
This divorce agreement wasn't the one she later revised. It was the one Julian initially asked Martin to give her. At first, she received half of Julian's total assets but chose to return 5% of the Galloway Group's stock rights and half of his equity.
Now, the agreement stipulated that he would give her the monetary equivalent of his company's current stock price—several billion dollars. Kelly hadn't read this agreement initially. She was stunned by the astonishing property distribution. This was a billionaire's divorce. Only then did she recall why the man before her seemed familiar: he was Julian, the powerful young leader of the Galloway Group, a dominant figure in the business world.
For Rosalie, when Julian signed the agreement yesterday, she hadn't read the contents, assuming it was the same one she'd sent the previous day. She hadn't even glanced at it until this moment.
Even though Rosalie would receive a fortune beyond the reach of most for several lifetimes, she was still unhappy. For her, divorce meant severing all ties with Julian. This wealth felt like annoying bonds still connecting them.
She was about to refuse when Julian, anticipating her, said, "If you don't take this money, I won't divorce you." Rosalie was so angered by his words that she felt a lump in her throat. She said, "Julian, I've told you before that I don't need your money. Why don't you just give up?"
Reluctant to argue, he explained impassively, "This is our joint property. Since we've divorced, you deserve half. I don't want the public to think I took advantage of my ex-wife. If you don't want the money, I won't accept the divorce."
