Chapter 200
His good mood evaporated within seconds when Rosalie said, “No. I’m here because I don’t want any delays to the divorce process caused by your work schedule.”
Julian sulked, then glimpsed the true meaning behind her smile. He said, “So, you’re afraid I might regret divorcing you?”
Irony laced his low voice. He had to admit he’d neglected the paperwork; Rosalie's presence was a necessary prod. Her silence confirmed his guess, deepening his already gloomy mood.
Rosalie was about to speak when she heard a light sneer. Julian, leaning against her car, looked down at her condescendingly. “The days I spent working made you arrogant, Rosalie. I’m surprised you think I’d pester you,” he said.
Rosalie thought, Or what? That’s exactly what you’ve done before. She hated his attempt to shift blame.
“Well, don’t blame me for my lack of trust, Mr. Galloway, it's entirely based on your past actions. Anyway, I’m relieved to see you. Let’s go,” Rosalie said.
“Rosalie!” Julian said sternly.
“You’re not going back on your word, are you, Mr. Galloway?” she asked.
Julian’s hesitation was unacceptable. Her foot on the accelerator, she was prepared to hit him with her car if he reneged.
“That’s not going to happen,” he said.
“Good. So let’s go now. Anyone who tries to quit this time will be impotent forever,” Rosalie declared.
Julian was speechless. In silence, he seethed, absorbing her forceful desire for divorce and her ultimatum to finalize it immediately.
