Chapter 39
"Alright," Bailey agreed. "Naomi, let's just drop it. Don't confront Madelyn."
"Fine, I'll follow your lead."
Despite her agreement, Naomi sped off the moment she parted ways with Bailey and headed straight to Madelyn's house. If she let this slide, Madelyn would target Bailey again, and Estelle would likely escalate the bullying. Naomi wasn't one to back down easily.
"Ms. Goodwin, Ms. Sabella isn't home. Please come back another day," the maid said.
"Ms. Goodwin, please leave!"
Despite the maid's attempts to stop her, Naomi entered Madelyn's living room.
"Ms. Goodwin…"
Before the maid could finish, Naomi cast a cold gaze at her and demanded, "Get Madelyn out here now!"
Just then, Madelyn came down from the second floor in casual wear. She asked indifferently, "Naomi, what's all this fuss about so late? Is this how the Goodwin family behaves?"
Without a word, Naomi picked up an antique vase from a nearby cabinet and hurled it at Madelyn. She asked coldly, "Did you go after Bailey this afternoon?"
The vase shattered against the wall. Madelyn jumped in shock and brushed glass shards from her clothes.
"Naomi, have you lost your mind? Don't you realize where you are?" she yelled.
As Madelyn cleaned herself, a shard cut her finger. She exploded in anger, shouting, "So what if I confronted her this afternoon? I hit Bailey, not you, Naomi!"
Hearing Madelyn's admission, Naomi snorted. She stepped closer, grabbed Madelyn by the neck, and said, "Say it again."
Madelyn's face turned red. She stammered, "I did hit her. But what can you do to me? If you don't let go and dare to cause trouble here, I'll make sure Bailey pays a heavier price next time."
She was right. Hurting Bailey would affect Naomi more. Madelyn's actions were undoubtedly aimed at Naomi.
Infuriated by Madelyn's arrogance, Naomi tightened her grip, pulled Madelyn's hair, and dragged her down the stairs. Madelyn retaliated fiercely, clawing at Naomi's face and yelling, "You wretch! How dare you hit me in my own house? I'll take you on!"
Before Madelyn could reach her, Naomi kicked Madelyn hard in the abdomen. Madelyn winced, stumbled, and fell. Madelyn was no match for Naomi.
Holding her stomach, tears streaming down her face, Madelyn threatened, "Naomi, remember what you've done today. I'll kill Bailey!"
Naomi responded with two more swift kicks to her stomach. Whatever harm Madelyn intended for Bailey, Naomi returned in kind. Naomi's only regret was not wearing high heels; her mid-heels weren't enough to cause serious injury.
Naomi crouched down, grabbed Madelyn's hair, and asked, "Estelle and Pauline conspired with you, didn't they?"
Madelyn sobbed, "It's none of your concern. Let me tell you…"
Before she could finish, Naomi slapped her. "Are you still being defiant?"
The slap left Madelyn's face swollen and bleeding. In a one-on-one fight, Madelyn was no match for Naomi.
