Chapter 765 Wrong Target
Hayleyโs POV:
โHey, did you hear? Some rich, clueless Omega girl actually had the guts to challenge Preston in a rock betting match!โ
โChallenge him, sureโbut get this, she picked her stone from the outer hall! Total amateur move.โ
โFor real? So how are they doing so far?โ
โLooks like the girl picked one stone this morning. Preston hasnโt even made his move yet.โ
โYouโre kidding! That idiot girl I can understand, but Preston? If he waits much longer, all the good stones will be gone!โ
โWho knows whatโs going on? Prestonโs been acting weird this round.โ
โI donโt think itโs that complicated. My guess? Heโs got his eye on that lowโranking Omega chick.
โWhatโs that supposed to mean?โ
โYou seriously donโt know? Word is, sheโs just an Omega, but sheโs pretty easy on the eyes. The stakes of their bet? If Preston wins, he gets to sleep with her.โ
โHaha! If that were me, Iโd make sure she couldnโt even walk afterward! Heck, Iโd take the girl and the cash too! Hahaha!โ
Their disgusting laughter and crude talk finally pushed me over the edge.
I was just about to get up and walk over when a loud crash came from their table behind me.
I spun around. A dinner tray had slammed down hard on one guyโs head, shattering on impact. Mushroom soup dripped from his hair, down his face, thick and sticky.
โWhat the heck?! Who did that?!โ
The man jumped to his feet, wiping his face furiously, his eyes flashing with rage as he looked toward the one whoโd struck.
Truman stood thereโcalm, expressionless, a quiet storm of power. The air around him buzzed with dominant Alpha energy. It was enough to make the man flinch without even realizing it.
But clearly this guy wasnโt ranked high enough to recognize his Alpha scent.
He bared his sharp canines, puffed up his chest, and barked out, โYou better apologize, or I swear youโre not walking out of here!โ
I crossed my arms and leaned back in my seat, smirking as I studied him coldly.
This guy was obviously from the Cyclone Packโentitled, arrogant, the kind who thought their bloodline made them superior, especially on their own turf. He probably wasnโt used to being challenged.
Good. Letโs see how Truman handles this.
โOh yeah?โ Truman curled his lips into a mocking smile. โBe my guest.โ
The manโs eyes bulged. โYou cocky son of aโfine! You asked for it!โ
He lunged, claws out, aiming straight for Trumanโs face.
But Truman shifted just in time, sidestepping smoothly. In one quick move, he grabbed the guyโs wrist mid-swing, squeezing until the claws stopped cold.
Thenโcrack! With his free hand, Truman smashed a glass tumbler over the manโs head.
The glass shattered, sending splinters flying and water splashing across the manโs face. A few shards left thin red cuts on his cheeks.
โLet go!โ the man cried out, writhing in pain.
โJust helping you clean up,โ Truman said with a cold smirk. โHappy now?โ
Classic Truman. He didnโt even need to shiftโstill in human form, he brought the guy to his knees like it was nothing. Thatโs what it meant to be an Alpha on our level.
Watching that sorry excuse for a man get tossed aside like trashโI couldnโt hold back my laughter anymore. โSorry,โ I said between giggles. โItโs justโฆ too funny. I couldnโt help myself.โ
Truman glanced at me, chuckling under his breath. Then he let go of the guy, sending him sprawling to the floor. His eyes drifted back to me.
The man, cradling his wrist and face, turned to glare at me like I was the source of all his humiliation. โYou lowly Omega,โ he snapped. โYou dare laugh at me?! Want to die?!โ
He knew he couldnโt take Truman, so now he was coming after meโtrying to get his pride back by picking on someone he thought was weaker.
Too bad for him, he picked the wrong target.
โAre you talking to me?โ I asked, tilting my head with wideโeyed innocence.
โI am that dumb, rich girl you guys were mocking earlier, huh?โ
