Chapter 760 Sheโs My Person
Hayleyโs POV:
The women shrieked at the top of their lungs, like they were trying to summon the entire building.
A moment later, several security guards stormed in, their eyes sharp and hostile. One of them growled, โMaโam, we need you to come with us.โ
I didnโt move. My gaze swept right past them, settling instead on the smug group of women behind them.
โSo this is how the Cyclone Pack treats their guests? Canโt win an argument, so you resort to discrimination and exclusion?โ
Before the guards could respond, a deep voice echoed across the room.
โWhatโs going on here?โ
A man with white cropped hair and a light-gray suit stepped through the crowd. His presence quieted the room instantly.
โMr. Hanover,โ one of the women โ the loudest one, round and red-faced โ jumped in, her voice laced with false outrage. โThat woman deliberately stirred up trouble and tried to cause conflict with the out-of-town guests!โ
The manโs brows furrowed, and he said, โOur pack is a proud part of the North Annestone wolf tribe. We wonโt tolerate anyone jeopardizing our unity โ no one is an exception.โ
Then, turning to the guards, he barked, โEscort her out!โ
This was Cyclone Packโs turf. Their party, their guards. Of course, they wouldnโt side with a so-called โoutsiderโ like me.
The others just stood around watching, indifferent. To them, I was nothing more than a low-tier Omega โ powerless and expendable.
I knew better than to provoke a full-blown confrontation here. Even if I revealed myself as an Alpha and let Hera take over, the odds werenโt in my favor.
And besides, if this blew up, it could drag the Shadow Packโs reputation through the mud.
I weighed my options and remained still, completely unfazed. My gaze swept around the room, calm and mocking.
I donโt pick fights. But if someone dares to cross me first, they better be ready to face the consequences.
The guards glanced at each other, realizing I wasnโt going to leave quietly.
Just as one of them reached out to grab my arm โ a voice, thunderous and full of authority, rang out.
โI dare any of you to touch her!โ
Everyone turned. Truman was making his way through the crowd, expression stone-cold. The pressure of his Alpha aura swept through the room like a storm as he slowly approached me.
Melody followed behind him, not straying an inch.
โMr. White,โ Quentin Hanover greeted him, respectful and cautious. โThis is just a personal matter. Perhaps itโs best if you donโt get involved.โ
Truman gave a humorless laugh. โStay out of it? Youโre trying to throw my person out of here, and you expect me not to interfere? Does that make sense?โ
The crowd gasped. Even I was caught off guard.
What did he mean by his person?! Then what is Melody supposed to be? His personal shadow?
Yet, to my surprise, Melody didnโt even flinch. She stood calmly at his side, as if this had nothing to do with her.
Quentin blinked in confusion, then suddenly burst into laughter. โWell, I wasnโt expecting that! So this lady is your mate too? Iโฆโ
โI think youโve misunderstood,โ I cut in sharply. โThereโs nothing going on between us.โ
Truman chimed in, voice cool, โWomen do love pretending.โ
Quentin seemed to get the message. He bowed slightly and said, โI understand. Apologies for the offense, Mr. White. I hope you wonโt take it personally.โ
โI wonโt.โ
After a few more pleasantries, Quentin turned and left.
I narrowed my eyes at Truman. โYouโd better stop testing my patience.โ
He gave an exaggerated sigh. He said with a tone of hurt, โTsk, tsk, tsk. Iโm heartbroken, Ms. Carson. I just helped you, and this is how you thank me?โ
โI didnโt ask you to.โ I rolled my eyes and turned to leave.
His smile faded the second I walked away. He shot a glance at Melody, who nodded and followed me without a word.
โMs. Carson,โ she said, trailing me through the party like a shadow. โThat Mr. Hanover โ how much do you know about him?โ
โNever met him,โ I said flatly. Then I realized sheโd been tailing me for a while.
I stopped and turned toward her, eyes sharp. โWhy have you been following me?โ
