Chapter 743 The Chosen One
Hayleyโs POV:
13 Pearls
โWhat are you doing here, Hayley? Rock betting isnโt like anything else. If you donโt understand the game, itโd be useless no matter how much money you spend. Hey, donโt tell me youโre going to waste your money just to spite me!โ Freya said sarcastically.
I replied with a sarcastic smile, โItโs not like I donโt have money to waste. Iโll just consider it charity. Besides, how could I miss out on such fun things?โ
โFun? It could make you go bankrupt at once! Even with a fortune, youโll still end up losing all if you gamble here.โ
Freya continued sarcastically, โYouโve lived your whole life out in that secluded place of Shadow Pack and youโre just an average Omega. Itโs understandable if you donโt understand the tricks of rock betting. In the end, itโs all about gambling.โ
I shrugged indifferently and replied, โYou sugar-coated it like itโs so fancy, but itโs just a rock to me. For me, these so-called gems and jewels arenโt much different from the pebbles on the road.โ
โHuh, what a clueless and arrogant person.โ As I finished talking, the woman beside Freya scoffed at me. โYouโre just a mediocre Omega, ignorant and inexperienced.
โEven the so-called Chosen One of Rock Betting Auction wouldnโt dare to be so dismissive about gemstones. But here you are bragging, what a big mouth.โ
โThe Chosen One?โ I asked confusedly.
โThese Omegas from the countryside are such a pain. Everything has to be taught. You never even heard of the Chosen One? I really donโt know how you got in here,โ the woman mocked me mercilessly.
I glared at her and was about to retort when a bystander eagerly explained, โThree years ago at the Rock Betting Auction held by Winterbite Pack, a masked woman showed up out of nowhere. All the raw stones she bought revealed rare and high-grade sapphire.
โShe totally crushed the renowned rock betting families and Alpha families present. After that, the industry started calling her the Chosen One, as in the gifted one.โ
โThatโs right. I was there that day too. She didnโt seem very old, but her presence wasnโt a bit less than any of those alphas. Sheโs calm, decisive, and sharp. Her vision and instincts were out of this world. I donโt think I could ever match it in my lifetime,โ someone else added.
โBut after that event, she vanished. No oneโs seen her since. I doubt weโll ever get the chance to watch her cut stone again.โ
I listened to them, barely managing to control my shocked expression.
All that, just for this?
Was it that easy to become the Chosen One?
Basically, with just enough luck, everyone could be the Chosen One?
โI think all of you might be mistaken,โ I said awkwardly.
โWhat do you mean?โ The woman whoโd been mocking me shot me a glance.
โI mean, maybe this so-called Chosen One everyoneโs talking about doesnโt even really understand how rock betting works,โ I said patiently.
Freya looked at me with utter disdain.
The woman beside her covered her mouth in mock surprise and laughed as she said, โFreya, your little Omega sister from the countryside is really something, huh?
โEven after hearing about the amazing things the Chosen One accomplished, she still says things like that? Itโs hilarious!โ
She slung her arm over Freyaโs shoulder and said as if she was giving a friendly reminder, โFreya, for the sake of your familyโs dignity, youโd better drag her home before she embarrasses the Sanders.โ
Freya put on a pitiful expression and sighed. โI wish I could, Celine, but sheโs my fatherโs biological daughter. What power do I have over her?โ
โBe it biological or not, as her sister, you have every right to teach her a lesson,โ Celine Walton sneered.
โIf you wonโt do it, I will. Someoneโs got to teach this lowly Omega a lesson.โ
With that, Celine was clearly convinced I was an easy target. She strutted over and raised her hand, with freshly done nails glinting as she aimed to slap me across the face.
