Chapter 738 Let the Auction Begin
Hayleyโs POV:
โWant to know?โ I raised an eyebrow at her.
Scarlett nodded firmly.
โFigure it out yourself.โ I gave a sly smile and turned to walk away.
Scarlett froze for a second, then stomped her foot and rushed after me. โYou havenโt given me Harmonyโs signed poster and the limited-edition signed photocard yet!โ
Henry slid over with a mischievous grin. โI know Harmony. Call me Brother Henry and Iโll get it for you, how about it?โ
Scarlett turned to him with a look that said he was a complete idiot. โGet away from me.โ
Having been cold-shouldered, Henry awkwardly headed toward Zayd and the others.
But the moment he got close, Zayd silently slowed his pace, widening the gap between them.
โHey, you!โ Henry was annoyed and stopped in his tracks.
Zayd ignored him completely and quickly strode past to walk alongside me.
Henry, fuming, ran to catch up, claiming he was going to unleash his inner wolf and kick Zaydโs ass.
Still, Zayd ignored him entirely, and with no choice left, Henry finally backed down.
Watching their antics, I couldnโt help but laugh. Just a bunch of carefree kids โ how entertaining.
If only Iโd had more days like this. But those carefree moments ended far too early for me; the day I became Alpha of the Shadow Pack changed everything.
Freyaโs POV:
I arrived at the auction venue accompanied by the manager of the Sandersโ Winterbite Pack.
โMs. Freya, you really didnโt need to come in person,โ the manager, Nathan Craig, said, bowing slightly. โThe other companies bidding today canโt even match half of Sander Groupโs power. They simply donโt have the capacity to take that land.โ
โI donโt need you to remind me,โ I replied impatiently. โI have my own reasons for being here.โ
In truth, I just felt uneasy and I needed to see it myself.
Peterโs survival had shaken me deeply. I couldnโt shake the feeling that more trouble was coming, so I had to stay alert.
Securing this plot of land would silence the Sanders elders who still questioned a woman holding power.
With that thought, I exhaled slowly. Ever since Hayley became Michelle, I hadnโt had a momentโs peace โ I was utterly drained.
The auction was about to begin.
A voice suddenly cut through my thoughts.
โWhat a small world.โ
I turned toward the sound and saw Hayley and Benjamin walking in with a large entourage, radiating pressure.
โWhat are you doing here?โ I glared at them in annoyance.
โWhatever youโre doing โ weโre here to do the same,โ Henry chimed in lazily, clearly enjoying the tension.
I clenched my fists, struggling to contain my anger. If he werenโt Benjaminโs younger brother, I wouldโve ripped his throat out already.
My nerves tensed again. I knew it โ this wouldnโt go smoothly.
โHayley,โ I narrowed my eyes at her. โEven if you donโt like me, donโt mess around with something like a land auction. Driving up the price would only hurt the Sandersโ interests.โ
โNot necessarily,โ Benjamin interjected calmly. โIf Hayley wins the bid and becomes part of the Sanders, wouldnโt that still benefit the family overall? Donโt you think so, Ms. Freya?โ
I clenched my jaw, barely suppressing the killing intent in my eyes.
Benjamin, as an Alpha, was someone my wolf might not be able to defeat.
I knew it โ Hayley, that scheming bitch, had her eyes on the Sanders' assets from the very beginning.
So sheโs finally making her move โ using this land to work her way into the core of the Sander Group?
Dream on!
I will never let her succeed!
โWeโll see about that!โ
With that cold line, I stormed inside, heels clicking sharply across the floor.
Hayley โ just recently accepted by the Sanders, and still seen as an Omega โ thought she could challenge me, with the entire Sander Group behind her? Ridiculous!
Unlike other auctions, land auctions deal with only one property per session.
Which meant everyone seated in the audience was a direct competitor.
After a brief introduction from the host, the gavel came down. โStarting bid: 38 million. Minimum increase: two million. Bidding starts now.โ
A few small companies made initial offers, slowly raising the number.
When it hit 45 million, Nathan raised his hand on my signal.
โFifty million.โ
They drove the price to unprecedented heights โ a clear display of determination that made smaller companies abandon further bids.
The host was just about to close the bid when a familiar, grating voice rang out โ "Sixty million."
Hayleyโs voice cut through the room. Then she turned to me with a perfectly polite expression and a look of pure challenge in her eyes.
