Chapter 716: Expel That Woman

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œHenry, werenโ€™t you watching him?!โ€ I asked frantically, grabbing Henryโ€™s arm.

โ€œIโ€ฆ I was with you the whole time! He ran off too far in wolf form; I couldnโ€™t keep up!โ€ Henry sighed helplessly.

I shook my head. โ€œImpossible. Claudio is my man; Xavier knows our movements too well. His people would have noticed if we were one shortโ€ฆโ€

So, they deliberately concealed it. Or worse, Claudio might have been kidnapped by Xavierโ€™s men!

But I didnโ€™t have time to dwell on it. Peterโ€™s heartbeat was growing weaker on the monitor.

โ€œBen! Ben!โ€ I clutched Benjaminโ€™s arm, panic surging through me. โ€œIโ€™m out of silver needles. Get me a set of needles; Peter canโ€™t die! My brother canโ€™t die!โ€

At last, I was able to call him my brother. But Peter hadnโ€™t heard it yet. He couldnโ€™t die just like this!

Seeing my distress, Virginiaโ€™s fragile composure shattered again.

โ€œMichelle,โ€ she tried to steady herself as she approached, supporting me. โ€œCalm down, calm down.โ€

โ€œPeter knows. Knowing you acknowledge him will make him happy. This isnโ€™t your fault!โ€

โ€œNo, I can save him, I can!โ€ I didnโ€™t know how to explain, desperately looking to Benjamin for help.

โ€œTrust me, Ben. Get the needles for me!โ€

Benjamin held my gaze for a few seconds, giving me a reassuring hug, then turned and ran down the hallway.

In that moment, all my strength drained away, and I collapsed to the floor in despair. He didnโ€™t believe me?

I turned to see the heart monitorโ€™s waves growing smaller until, a minute later, it flatlined. Tears streamed down my face as a massive wave of helplessness engulfed me. Hera howled in sorrow within me.

Just then, I heard the sound of someone running down the hallway. I looked up to see Benjamin sprinting towards me. His waist wound hadnโ€™t healed fully, forcing him to press a hand against it as he ran.

After a moment of stunned relief, I regained my composure, grabbed the needles, and sprinted into the hospital room, locking the door behind me.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

โ€œMiss! Please, calm down! The patient has no vital signs!โ€ Medical staff pounded on the door, their urgency palpable.

Ignoring them, I focused entirely on saving Peter.

Virginiaโ€™s POV:

I covered my mouth, sobbing uncontrollably, yet forced myself to stay calm.

I pleaded with Hayley in the hospital room, โ€œMichelle, please, let Peter go in peace. Donโ€™t hold onto himโ€ฆโ€

Benjamin stepped forward, blocking the door, glaring at the nurse trying to intervene. โ€œThe family has a few last words for the patient. You can leave now.โ€

The nurse, intimidated by his powerful presence, spoke shyly but cautiously, โ€œMake sure to comfort the family properly.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Sheโ€™s my fiancรฉe; I know how to take care of her without your reminder,โ€ Benjamin said coldly.

The nurseโ€™s expression soured upon hearing Hayley was his fiancรฉe, and she quickly left.

Not long after, Alan arrived. I rushed to him immediately, gripping him tightly, โ€œAlan, Peterโ€™s gone. Our son isโ€ฆโ€

Alanโ€™s body trembled, but as the head of the Sanders family, he managed to suppress his grief. He hugged me and murmured, โ€œItโ€™s alright. We still have each other. With me here, this family wonโ€™t fall apart.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s Freya!โ€ I accused. โ€œIt has to be that woman! She wants to destroy you and Peter!โ€

โ€œPeterโ€™s already gone. You canโ€™t let anything else go wrong. Drive her out of the Sanders! Expel that woman!โ€
