Chapter 716: Expel That Woman
Hayleyโs POV:
โHenry, werenโt you watching him?!โ I asked frantically, grabbing Henryโs arm.
โIโฆ I was with you the whole time! He ran off too far in wolf form; I couldnโt keep up!โ Henry sighed helplessly.
I shook my head. โImpossible. Claudio is my man; Xavier knows our movements too well. His people would have noticed if we were one shortโฆโ
So, they deliberately concealed it. Or worse, Claudio might have been kidnapped by Xavierโs men!
But I didnโt have time to dwell on it. Peterโs heartbeat was growing weaker on the monitor.
โBen! Ben!โ I clutched Benjaminโs arm, panic surging through me. โIโm out of silver needles. Get me a set of needles; Peter canโt die! My brother canโt die!โ
At last, I was able to call him my brother. But Peter hadnโt heard it yet. He couldnโt die just like this!
Seeing my distress, Virginiaโs fragile composure shattered again.
โMichelle,โ she tried to steady herself as she approached, supporting me. โCalm down, calm down.โ
โPeter knows. Knowing you acknowledge him will make him happy. This isnโt your fault!โ
โNo, I can save him, I can!โ I didnโt know how to explain, desperately looking to Benjamin for help.
โTrust me, Ben. Get the needles for me!โ
Benjamin held my gaze for a few seconds, giving me a reassuring hug, then turned and ran down the hallway.
In that moment, all my strength drained away, and I collapsed to the floor in despair. He didnโt believe me?
I turned to see the heart monitorโs waves growing smaller until, a minute later, it flatlined. Tears streamed down my face as a massive wave of helplessness engulfed me. Hera howled in sorrow within me.
Just then, I heard the sound of someone running down the hallway. I looked up to see Benjamin sprinting towards me. His waist wound hadnโt healed fully, forcing him to press a hand against it as he ran.
After a moment of stunned relief, I regained my composure, grabbed the needles, and sprinted into the hospital room, locking the door behind me.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
โMiss! Please, calm down! The patient has no vital signs!โ Medical staff pounded on the door, their urgency palpable.
Ignoring them, I focused entirely on saving Peter.
Virginiaโs POV:
I covered my mouth, sobbing uncontrollably, yet forced myself to stay calm.
I pleaded with Hayley in the hospital room, โMichelle, please, let Peter go in peace. Donโt hold onto himโฆโ
Benjamin stepped forward, blocking the door, glaring at the nurse trying to intervene. โThe family has a few last words for the patient. You can leave now.โ
The nurse, intimidated by his powerful presence, spoke shyly but cautiously, โMake sure to comfort the family properly.โ
โDonโt worry. Sheโs my fiancรฉe; I know how to take care of her without your reminder,โ Benjamin said coldly.
The nurseโs expression soured upon hearing Hayley was his fiancรฉe, and she quickly left.
Not long after, Alan arrived. I rushed to him immediately, gripping him tightly, โAlan, Peterโs gone. Our son isโฆโ
Alanโs body trembled, but as the head of the Sanders family, he managed to suppress his grief. He hugged me and murmured, โItโs alright. We still have each other. With me here, this family wonโt fall apart.โ
โItโs Freya!โ I accused. โIt has to be that woman! She wants to destroy you and Peter!โ
โPeterโs already gone. You canโt let anything else go wrong. Drive her out of the Sanders! Expel that woman!โ
