Chapter 714: To Suffer for a Lifetime
Hayleyโs POV:
Just as I anticipated, he was completely defenseless. The silver needle struck squarely at his throat. In the next instant, he collapsed to his knees.
โYouโฆโ
โThisโฆ this is impossible. I reviewed all your fight recordsโyou donโt know how to use silver needles!โ The masked man looked at me in disbelief.
โTrueโฆ I didnโt know how to use silver needles back then,โ I replied, raising an eyebrow. โBut Iโm not the same person I was before.โ
His eyes widened with terror, the reality of death finally dawning on his face. Seeing this, my hand paused as I reached to move his mask. A person who fears death isnโt worthy of being my opponent.
โHowever,โ I said, slowly straightening up and looking down at him, โinjuring my man isnโt something that can be settled with just one needle.โ
With that, I retrieved all the silver needles hidden within me and, before the watching crowd, methodically inserted them into various points across his body. After placing the last needle, I dusted off my hands and smiled at him. โFrom now on, every rainy day, the spots where these needles lie will hurt so badly you wonโt be able to sleep.โ
โDonโt even think about using your witch clanโs methods to treat it. If you try, the pain will be 10 times worse, as if the needles were burrowing into your bones.โ
โYou made my mate suffer for a while. Iโm making you suffer for a lifetime. Fair trade, donโt you think?โ I taunted him. Dealing with someone as vile as him requires equally harsh measures.
He didnโt reply, only glaring at me with seething hatred. I contemplated for a moment, deciding to remove his mask. Just as I reached out, Xavieโs subordinate, Silas, approached and said obsequiously, โMs. Carson, please show mercy. This man is our arenaโs top fighter. If he dies, it will be difficult to explain to Mr. Hanson.โ
โYour man?โ His words fueled my fury.
โYes.โ
I let out a cold laugh and withdrew my hand. โVery well, Xavierโs man. Very well!โ
I remained on stage beside the arenaโs reigning champion, and no one dared challenge me. Even so, Silas first got Xavierโs approval before handing over the marketโs only Moonshade Flower to me.
โApologies, Ms. Carson. We didnโt mean to harm your fiancรฉ intentionally. Itโs our duty to protect the Moonshade Flower from outsiders. Iโve sent for the antidote. Hope you can be magnanimous and not inform Mr. Hanson, sparing us.โ Silas pleaded, kneeling and presenting the Moonshade Flower. I took the herb and sniffed it.
After Hera confirmed its authenticity, I looked at him and said, โI prefer substantial compensation over apologies. You know exactly what I want.โ
โAnything I possess, you just need to ask, and itโs yours, Ms. Carson.โ
โBut the Thunderbloom Flower you seek, even Mr. Hanson doesnโt have it. How could I?โ Silas looked genuinely distressed, almost begging.
โThe black market may be under my management. But if it doesnโt flow in, no one sees it.โ
โIn that case, let todayโs matter end here.โ I declared coldly before delivering a powerful kick, sending him flying three yards away. He crashed into the stone steps of the stands, spitting out a mouthful of blood as he landed.
Xavier and his men knew Benjamin was my fiancรฉ but still dared to play dirty tricks on him. I was being merciful by not letting Hera rip his throat out! As the market overseer, Silas was not just a leader but also a well-liked figure in the black market. Seeing him injured, the crowd immediately rose to their feet. Every one of them glared at me menacingly, clearly preparing to surround and attackโฆ
