Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 697: What Do You Want?
Hayleyโs POV:
If the Jagged Group fell into my hands, it wouldn't take much effort to strip the Jaggeds of their status as the ruling family. I was determined to pull Brayden down from his position as Alpha and make him pay for deceiving me.
โNo problem,โ Steven agreed without hesitation. โAs long as you say the word, I can easily bankrupt any domestic company or make their investments worthless.โ
However, he quickly shifted to negotiation. โBut I canโt keep making deals where I only lose, can I?โ
โWhat do you want?โ I asked calmly.
โIโve always appreciated how direct you are,โ Steven said, his tone turning serious. โI want to meet X.โ
โNo matter how skilled she is, sheโs just a person. Are you sure a single meeting will be enough?โ I asked kindly, not wanting to take advantage of him.
โOf course!โ Stevenโs voice was firm. โI believe X is worth it.โ
I thought for a moment before replying, โAlright. Once this is over, Iโll introduce you.โ
โGood.โ Steven sounded confident. โYou wonโt have to wait long for the outcome you want.โ
Without another word, I ended the call.
โMichelle?โ Jeremy called my name flatteringly.
I turned to him with a look of disgust. โWho are you talking to?โ
โYou!โ Jeremyโs eyes lit up as he stared at me, but he quickly caught himself and corrected his mistake. โOops, my badโI meant Hayley.โ
โHayley, was that the famous Steven Lowe on the phone just now?โ
โThat has nothing to do with you.โ I arched an eyebrow sarcastically.
โHow can you say that? Weโre both part of the Sanders!โ
โLooks like youโre setting up a dinner between Steven and your friend. Any chance I could get a seat at the table?โ Jeremy asked hopefully.
โDad! Dad!โ Harris, who had been ignored, suddenly sat up, his face full of resentment. โDonโt forget about me! I canโt afford to wait any longerโmy leg needs treatment!โ
โHe only went to the Jagged Residence to help you by treating Vivian, and he ended up like this.โ
โHelp me?โ I shot him a cold look. โDid I tell him to bring a bunch of quacks? Did I ask him to blindly prescribe medicine and perform needling without even diagnosing her properly? Are you sure I was the one who ordered that?โ
โUhโฆโ Jeremy suddenly had nothing to say. After a long pause, he finally stammered, โBโbut you did tell Harris to treat her! He had no choice but to take the risk!โ
โOh,โ I responded flatly, showing no emotion.
โAnd thatโs it?โ Jeremy looked frustrated. โYour cousin put everything on the line for you, and you donโt even have a word of thanks?โ
Without sparing him a glance, I said calmly, โIf I can heal him, I will. If I canโt, I wonโt pretend otherwise. People who claim to be acting selflessly are usually just looking out for themselves. In the end, they bring disaster upon themselves and donโt deserve pity.โ
Benjamin suddenly crossed my mind, and I let out a quiet, self-mocking chuckle. โBesides, my sympathy isnโt infinite. I canโt waste it on people who donโt deserve it.โ
I had to minimize risks for Benjamin and protect myself. He was my destined mate, a gift from the Moon Goddessโthe one I was meant to be with.
After a brief moment of thought, I turned to the Beta enforcers and gave my order. โThrow them all out.โ
