Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 697: What Do You Want?

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

If the Jagged Group fell into my hands, it wouldn't take much effort to strip the Jaggeds of their status as the ruling family. I was determined to pull Brayden down from his position as Alpha and make him pay for deceiving me.

โ€œNo problem,โ€ Steven agreed without hesitation. โ€œAs long as you say the word, I can easily bankrupt any domestic company or make their investments worthless.โ€

However, he quickly shifted to negotiation. โ€œBut I canโ€™t keep making deals where I only lose, can I?โ€

โ€œWhat do you want?โ€ I asked calmly.

โ€œIโ€™ve always appreciated how direct you are,โ€ Steven said, his tone turning serious. โ€œI want to meet X.โ€

โ€œNo matter how skilled she is, sheโ€™s just a person. Are you sure a single meeting will be enough?โ€ I asked kindly, not wanting to take advantage of him.

โ€œOf course!โ€ Stevenโ€™s voice was firm. โ€œI believe X is worth it.โ€

I thought for a moment before replying, โ€œAlright. Once this is over, Iโ€™ll introduce you.โ€

โ€œGood.โ€ Steven sounded confident. โ€œYou wonโ€™t have to wait long for the outcome you want.โ€

Without another word, I ended the call.

โ€œMichelle?โ€ Jeremy called my name flatteringly.

I turned to him with a look of disgust. โ€œWho are you talking to?โ€

โ€œYou!โ€ Jeremyโ€™s eyes lit up as he stared at me, but he quickly caught himself and corrected his mistake. โ€œOops, my badโ€”I meant Hayley.โ€

โ€œHayley, was that the famous Steven Lowe on the phone just now?โ€

โ€œThat has nothing to do with you.โ€ I arched an eyebrow sarcastically.

โ€œHow can you say that? Weโ€™re both part of the Sanders!โ€

โ€œLooks like youโ€™re setting up a dinner between Steven and your friend. Any chance I could get a seat at the table?โ€ Jeremy asked hopefully.

โ€œDad! Dad!โ€ Harris, who had been ignored, suddenly sat up, his face full of resentment. โ€œDonโ€™t forget about me! I canโ€™t afford to wait any longerโ€”my leg needs treatment!โ€

โ€œHe only went to the Jagged Residence to help you by treating Vivian, and he ended up like this.โ€

โ€œHelp me?โ€ I shot him a cold look. โ€œDid I tell him to bring a bunch of quacks? Did I ask him to blindly prescribe medicine and perform needling without even diagnosing her properly? Are you sure I was the one who ordered that?โ€

โ€œUhโ€ฆโ€ Jeremy suddenly had nothing to say. After a long pause, he finally stammered, โ€œBโ€”but you did tell Harris to treat her! He had no choice but to take the risk!โ€

โ€œOh,โ€ I responded flatly, showing no emotion.

โ€œAnd thatโ€™s it?โ€ Jeremy looked frustrated. โ€œYour cousin put everything on the line for you, and you donโ€™t even have a word of thanks?โ€

Without sparing him a glance, I said calmly, โ€œIf I can heal him, I will. If I canโ€™t, I wonโ€™t pretend otherwise. People who claim to be acting selflessly are usually just looking out for themselves. In the end, they bring disaster upon themselves and donโ€™t deserve pity.โ€

Benjamin suddenly crossed my mind, and I let out a quiet, self-mocking chuckle. โ€œBesides, my sympathy isnโ€™t infinite. I canโ€™t waste it on people who donโ€™t deserve it.โ€

I had to minimize risks for Benjamin and protect myself. He was my destined mate, a gift from the Moon Goddessโ€”the one I was meant to be with.

After a brief moment of thought, I turned to the Beta enforcers and gave my order. โ€œThrow them all out.โ€
