Chapter 658: A Stranger
Benjaminโs POV:
At the dinner table, the man Hayley brought acted as if he were already part of the Sanders family. He was smooth-talking and charming, making everyone laugh and keeping the atmosphere lively. Meanwhile, I felt like an outsider.
By the end of the meal, he even pulled out a bottle of muscle-building supplements and several energy drinks, stuffing them into Peterโs hands. โSince youโre Hayleyโs family, that makes you my family too. Take these. If you use them together, your workouts will be twice as effective. As long as you stick to it, I guarantee youโll have at least a six-pack in less than half a month!โ
Peter was so excited he nearly jumped out of his seat. Turning around, he pulled out a specially made face mask and presented it to Virginia. โI couldnโt help but notice youโre looking a little tired. Have you been worrying too much about Hayley? Ah, it breaks my heart to see you like this! This face mask is the latest product from a research institute abroad. Apply it once a day, and in a month, I guarantee youโll look ten years younger!โ
Virginia was delighted, laughing as she accepted it. โOh, you really know how to talk! Hahaha! Alright, I will take it. You must stay at our house for a few more days!โ
โOf course,โ he replied with an easy grin. When facing Bill and Dorothy, his demeanor became much more composed. He presented them with two vials of heart-protecting serum. โBill, Dorothy, please accept these. This serum is simple to use. If an emergency arises, just inject it into the heart, which will keep you going for three days. As long as you get medical attention within those three days, youโll be set for a long and healthy life.โ
Bill nodded in approval. โThatโs very thoughtful of you.โ
Watching him win over Hayleyโs entire family, making them laugh and accepting him wholeheartedly, I felt an indescribable sense of discomfort. A strong possessiveness surged through me, and even Lawrence grew restless within me, wanting to claim Hayley for himself. I completely lost my appetite, forcing myself to eat just a little. This guy was no ordinary person. He barely spent time with them, yet he fit in as if he were part of Hayleyโs family. Meanwhile, I was the one who felt out of place.
Hayley must have noticed my foul mood because she thoughtfully cut up my steak and placed it on my plate. I looked down at the plate, and my mood improved slightly. Just then, that man glanced over at me and smirked smugly. Lawrence was instantly enraged, ready to lunge forward and sink his teeth into his throat. I barely managed to hold him back, forcing myself to remain calm. I briefly met the manโs gaze but didnโt consider him a real threat.
Fortunately, dinner soon came to an end. I was just about to pull Hayley aside for a private conversation when the man leaned in beside her. โHayley, which room am I staying in tonight?โ
โThe third room on the right in the backyard,โ Hayley replied coolly. He craned his neck, noisily asking, โWhich room do you stay in?โ
Damn bastard! What the hell is he trying to do? I clenched my jaw and gripped my hands tightly into fists. โThe second room on the left.โ Hayleyโs tone was already laced with impatience. โWhoโs in the first room?โ he pressed on.
Hayley frowned and didnโt answer. Seeing her reaction, I secretly breathed a sigh of relief. โThatโs my room,โ Peter suddenly said, raising his voice. โWhy? You got a problem with that?โ
โNope, not at all.โ He grinned cheekily and slung an arm around Peterโs shoulders, leaning in to whisper something in his ear. I had no idea what he said, but Peterโs eyes widened in excitement after hearing it. Without hesitation, he extended his hand for a handshake and declared, โMy room is yours now!โ
Just like that, the bastard secured the room right next to Hayleyโs.
Damn it!
