Chapter 635: Why Did She Have to Come Back?
Freyaโs POV:
How dare that useless fool look down on me! I could feel my wolf clawing inside me, desperate to take control, to lash out and rip him apart. But I couldnโt. As much as it burned inside me, I had to hold backโjust like he said, he was my only ally now. I clenched my fists, forcing myself to stay calm, to suppress the fury rising within me.
But once I had a moment to breathe, I realized it was all Hayleyโs fault. That bitch! Why did she have to come back now? If it werenโt for her, everything would have stayed peaceful. For years, Iโd been the one protecting the Sanders name. I was so much more capable than she was. I was the top Beta warrior at the academy, graduated at the top of my class. Iโd been running the company, overseeing multiple werewolf packs, and everything was running smoothly. So why should someone like her, an Omega, return and take everything from me? Why should she get all the attention and admiration?
I couldnโt let this happen. I couldnโt let her steal what was rightfully mine! The position of leader of the Sanders should have been mine from the start. I had to figure out how to make Hayley disappearโฆ once and for all.
Hayleyโs POV:
After I had managed to send Freya and the others away, Peter turned to me. โMichelle, pack your things. Weโre leaving today. Youโre coming home with me,โ he said. โDonโt worry, as long as the Sanders are here, no one will hurt you,โ he added, trying to reassure me. As if on cue, Grandma and Grandpa appeared from the backyard, nodding in agreement.
I paused for a moment to think, then shook my head. โNo, itโs not practical to live with the Sanders. I still need to look after Grandmaโs treatment.โ Peter nodded in understanding before walking toward my grandparents. He spoke politely. โIf itโs alright with you, I was thinking about moving the Carsons to a larger property, then my mother and I will move in. That way, we could all be together and stay close to Hayley. Would that be okay? Hayley will be here for a few more years for school, Iโm sure youโll want to stay with her. Moving to a bigger house would make it more comfortable for all of us.โ
โPeter, youโre moving in too?โ Virginia asked, her voice filled with surprise. I was equally shocked by the idea. โYeah,โ Peter replied, his tone serious. โIโve neglected Michelle for far too long. Moving closer will allow me to be there for her.โ
โYou really donโt have to do that,โ I said, uncomfortable under the weight of his attention. โI donโt need it.โ Peter looked at me, concern and a touch of helplessness in his eyes. โYou donโt need it? So, what am I supposed to do as your brother then? Iโve only been awake for a few hours, and already Iโve heard so much about you from Mom,โ he continued. โI know youโve been taken care of by just your Grandma and Grandpa, and I know youโve been alone in the Midnight Pack, where you were always pushed around by the higher-ranked werewolves. Iโve made my decision. From now on, Iโm going to protect you. I want you to learn to rely on someone. I donโt want you to keep pretending youโre so strong.โ
Seeing the sincerity in his eyes, I couldnโt bring myself to respond. I just stayed quiet. Peter turned back to Grandpa. โMr. Bill, what do you think?โ โI have no objections,โ Grandpa said, smiling at Peter with approval. He then turned to me with a warm expression. โItโll be nice to have more people around. We two old fools wouldnโt mind having everyone stay with Hayley.โ
โAlright, Iโll take care of it,โ Peter said, then turned to Virginia. โMom, could you have some of the servants help pack Hayleyโs things?โ โDonโt worry about it,โ Virginia replied, smiling. They exchanged a glance, and Peter quickly left the room. As he passed Benjamin, he stopped, his expression hardening. โCome with me for a moment.โ
