Chapter 389: Applied to the Same University

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

I was ready to fire back, but my mum didnโ€™t give me the chance. โ€œRight now, the priority is your fatherโ€™s conditionโ€ฆโ€ she cut me off. Hearing her words, I had no option but to let it go, resolving to have a proper discussion with her once this issue was behind us.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry about Dadโ€™s leg. Iโ€™ve secured the best specialist. Once the surgery is done, weโ€™ll return home.โ€

Her face was tense as she gazed at my father lying in the hospital bed, her worry etched clearly in her expression. โ€œI just hope he can recover soon,โ€ she murmured. โ€œThen I can finally relax, and my restless wolf can settle down.โ€

My parents share a mate bond, and as their connection grows stronger, their wolves seem to be deeply intertwined. It makes me wonderโ€”will Hayley and I have this kind of relationship someday?

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

Once the results were released, I submitted my application to New College. Surprisingly, Henry, noticing my choice, decided to apply to the same university as well.

โ€œBoss, itโ€™s awesome that weโ€™ll be at the same school!โ€ he exclaimed, hugging me with excitement after receiving his acceptance email. I returned his enthusiasm with a smile. โ€œCongrats! You made it into your dream university!โ€

But then, his gaze lingered on my face, filled with an intensity and strangeness that I couldnโ€™t quite understand. I was about to ask him what was going on, but he quickly shifted the topic.

โ€œBoss! You wouldnโ€™t believe itโ€”my friends were stunned when they found out I got into New College!โ€ He grinned with pride. โ€œTheyโ€™re all impressed now. No oneโ€™s saying I relied on my connection with Benjamin, the Alpha of the Midnight Pack, or the Southwells. Theyโ€™re saying, โ€˜Henry made it to New College on his own.โ€™โ€

I gazed at him with admiration, giving his shoulder a firm pat. โ€œYouโ€™re incredible!โ€ I said sincerely.

He laughed, a hint of pride in his voice, โ€œI know, I really am.โ€

As we chatted, the hum of a car pulling up reached our ears. Henry leaned toward the window, peering out curiously. โ€œWhoโ€™s back?โ€ he asked.

At that moment, Tanner entered the room, his confident strides commanding attention. He flashed me a smile and said, โ€œHayley, I heard you got into New College. Congrats!โ€

I arched a brow and smirked. โ€œYou didnโ€™t stop by just to congratulate me, did you?โ€

Feeling surprise, Tanner widened his eyes before pulling a bank card from his pocket and holding it out to me.

โ€œWhatโ€™s this?โ€ I asked, glancing at the card.

โ€œItโ€™s your payment for helping with the wedding dress design last time. The full amount is loaded on this card,โ€ he explained.

I attempted to decline. โ€œYou really donโ€™t have to. It was just a small favorโ€”take it back.โ€

But Tanner wouldnโ€™t hear it and firmly placed the card in my hand. โ€œYou have to accept this,โ€ he said earnestly. โ€œSince the wedding dress you designed dazzled at the Scottsโ€™ wedding, our studio has been flooded with ordersโ€”big ones. Your talent breathed new life into my struggling studio. I owe you, and this money is yours by right,โ€ he added, his tone filled with sincerity.

I glanced at the card and finally said, โ€œAlright, thank you. Iโ€™ll accept it for now.โ€

Tanner hesitated for a moment, pressing his lips together before speaking. โ€œActually, thereโ€™s another reason I came to see you today,โ€ he admitted, seeming uncertain about how to proceed.

Sensing his hesitation, I decided to make it easier for him. โ€œJust spit it out! We know each other so wellโ€”thereโ€™s no need to tiptoe around.โ€
