Chapter 389: Applied to the Same University
Benjaminโs POV:
I was ready to fire back, but my mum didnโt give me the chance. โRight now, the priority is your fatherโs conditionโฆโ she cut me off. Hearing her words, I had no option but to let it go, resolving to have a proper discussion with her once this issue was behind us.
โDonโt worry about Dadโs leg. Iโve secured the best specialist. Once the surgery is done, weโll return home.โ
Her face was tense as she gazed at my father lying in the hospital bed, her worry etched clearly in her expression. โI just hope he can recover soon,โ she murmured. โThen I can finally relax, and my restless wolf can settle down.โ
My parents share a mate bond, and as their connection grows stronger, their wolves seem to be deeply intertwined. It makes me wonderโwill Hayley and I have this kind of relationship someday?
Hayleyโs POV:
Once the results were released, I submitted my application to New College. Surprisingly, Henry, noticing my choice, decided to apply to the same university as well.
โBoss, itโs awesome that weโll be at the same school!โ he exclaimed, hugging me with excitement after receiving his acceptance email. I returned his enthusiasm with a smile. โCongrats! You made it into your dream university!โ
But then, his gaze lingered on my face, filled with an intensity and strangeness that I couldnโt quite understand. I was about to ask him what was going on, but he quickly shifted the topic.
โBoss! You wouldnโt believe itโmy friends were stunned when they found out I got into New College!โ He grinned with pride. โTheyโre all impressed now. No oneโs saying I relied on my connection with Benjamin, the Alpha of the Midnight Pack, or the Southwells. Theyโre saying, โHenry made it to New College on his own.โโ
I gazed at him with admiration, giving his shoulder a firm pat. โYouโre incredible!โ I said sincerely.
He laughed, a hint of pride in his voice, โI know, I really am.โ
As we chatted, the hum of a car pulling up reached our ears. Henry leaned toward the window, peering out curiously. โWhoโs back?โ he asked.
At that moment, Tanner entered the room, his confident strides commanding attention. He flashed me a smile and said, โHayley, I heard you got into New College. Congrats!โ
I arched a brow and smirked. โYou didnโt stop by just to congratulate me, did you?โ
Feeling surprise, Tanner widened his eyes before pulling a bank card from his pocket and holding it out to me.
โWhatโs this?โ I asked, glancing at the card.
โItโs your payment for helping with the wedding dress design last time. The full amount is loaded on this card,โ he explained.
I attempted to decline. โYou really donโt have to. It was just a small favorโtake it back.โ
But Tanner wouldnโt hear it and firmly placed the card in my hand. โYou have to accept this,โ he said earnestly. โSince the wedding dress you designed dazzled at the Scottsโ wedding, our studio has been flooded with ordersโbig ones. Your talent breathed new life into my struggling studio. I owe you, and this money is yours by right,โ he added, his tone filled with sincerity.
I glanced at the card and finally said, โAlright, thank you. Iโll accept it for now.โ
Tanner hesitated for a moment, pressing his lips together before speaking. โActually, thereโs another reason I came to see you today,โ he admitted, seeming uncertain about how to proceed.
Sensing his hesitation, I decided to make it easier for him. โJust spit it out! We know each other so wellโthereโs no need to tiptoe around.โ
