Chapter 388: She Isnโt an Omega?
Henryโs POV:
After the question was asked, I suddenly remembered that Hayley had already shared her exam score with me. I quickly pulled out my phone to check. At that moment, Hayley opened the door. She saw me and asked, โHow did the exam go?โ
I was about to tell her my score, but when I saw hers on the screen, I was shocked! โNo way! Boss! Wowโฆ this score is incredible!โ I gasped.
Hayley smiled, nodding lightly. โItโs fine,โ she said.
โBoss, youโre being too humble! 1596 points and you say itโs nothing?! You must have the highest score this time!โ
โI suppose so. New College and Rivermount University have reached out to me,โ she replied calmly.
I looked at her with admiration and respect, giving her a thumbs-up. โBoss, youโre incredible!โ
Hayley remained composed, carrying an aura that reminded me so much of my Alpha brother, Benjamin. She carried herself with calm authority, nothing like the fragile demeanor of an Omega. As I took in her naturally striking features, a sudden thought crossed my mind. Could it be that she isnโt an Omega?
Hayleyโs POV:
I was just about to talk to Henry when my phone buzzed in my pocket. Noticing it was an international number, I instantly knew who it was.
โItโs Ben calling, isnโt it? Boss, you should take this. Iโll go share our scores with the othersโฆโ Henry said before leaving.
After he was gone, I went back to my room and answered the call. โAre the exam results out? How did you do?โ Benjamin asked, getting straight to the point.
I smiled and said, โItโs alright. I should have no trouble getting into New College.โ
โI knew youโd pull it off,โ Benjamin complimented me.
โArenโt you curious about my score?โ I teased.
โFrom the sound of your voice, it must be impressive. Let me guessโover 1,500?โ Benjamin chuckled.
Grinning, I replied, โ1,596. Itโs a bit better than I expected! I thought Iโd only hit 1,580!โ
โCongratulations on becoming a prospective college student.โ
โThanks! When will you be back?โ I asked.
โIn a few daysโฆโ Benjamin hesitated before adding, โMy dadโs leg injury worsened yesterday. Heโs still in the hospital, and his wolf has gone into a deep sleep because of how severe the injuries are.โ
โYou must have your hands full! Letโs talk later,โ I said, realizing he had a lot going on and deciding not to keep him any longer. โAlright, take care of yourself and wait for me to return.โ
Benjaminโs POV:
After ending the call and slipping my phone into my pocket, my mother immediately asked, โWas that the fiancรฉe your grandfather chose for you?โ
I nodded. My motherโs face clouded with displeasure. โI have no idea what your grandfather was thinking, pairing you with a frail Omega to be your Luna!โ
Hearing this, I furrowed my brows, feeling a hint of frustration. I tried to explain, โMom, sheโs not what you think. Sheโฆโ
But my mother cut me off sharply, โI donโt need to know what kind of person she is. All I know is that, given her rank, sheโs not good enough for you!โ
โNow that your Grandpa is gone, I think itโs time to end this engagement. Let me find someone more suitable for youโat least a higher-ranked Beta to be your mate.โ
She continued, โThis way, the next generation of Alpha heirs you have will be the strongest, and it will benefit the growth of our Midnight Pack.โ
I wasnโt pleased by her words, so I asserted my Alpha authority without hesitation. โMom, this is my decision, and I donโt need you to worry about it. You should be focusing more on Dadโs leg.โ
โAlright, I wonโt say anything else!โ My mother noticed my frustration and fell silent.
But she was still firm in her stance. โHowever, Iโll say thisโyouโre not truly engaged. Sooner or later, Iโll petition the Moon Goddess to break off this engagement!โ
