Chapter 388: She Isnโ€™t an Omega?

Henryโ€™s POV:

After the question was asked, I suddenly remembered that Hayley had already shared her exam score with me. I quickly pulled out my phone to check. At that moment, Hayley opened the door. She saw me and asked, โ€œHow did the exam go?โ€

I was about to tell her my score, but when I saw hers on the screen, I was shocked! โ€œNo way! Boss! Wowโ€ฆ this score is incredible!โ€ I gasped.

Hayley smiled, nodding lightly. โ€œItโ€™s fine,โ€ she said.

โ€œBoss, youโ€™re being too humble! 1596 points and you say itโ€™s nothing?! You must have the highest score this time!โ€

โ€œI suppose so. New College and Rivermount University have reached out to me,โ€ she replied calmly.

I looked at her with admiration and respect, giving her a thumbs-up. โ€œBoss, youโ€™re incredible!โ€

Hayley remained composed, carrying an aura that reminded me so much of my Alpha brother, Benjamin. She carried herself with calm authority, nothing like the fragile demeanor of an Omega. As I took in her naturally striking features, a sudden thought crossed my mind. Could it be that she isnโ€™t an Omega?

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

I was just about to talk to Henry when my phone buzzed in my pocket. Noticing it was an international number, I instantly knew who it was.

โ€œItโ€™s Ben calling, isnโ€™t it? Boss, you should take this. Iโ€™ll go share our scores with the othersโ€ฆโ€ Henry said before leaving.

After he was gone, I went back to my room and answered the call. โ€œAre the exam results out? How did you do?โ€ Benjamin asked, getting straight to the point.

I smiled and said, โ€œItโ€™s alright. I should have no trouble getting into New College.โ€

โ€œI knew youโ€™d pull it off,โ€ Benjamin complimented me.

โ€œArenโ€™t you curious about my score?โ€ I teased.

โ€œFrom the sound of your voice, it must be impressive. Let me guessโ€”over 1,500?โ€ Benjamin chuckled.

Grinning, I replied, โ€œ1,596. Itโ€™s a bit better than I expected! I thought Iโ€™d only hit 1,580!โ€

โ€œCongratulations on becoming a prospective college student.โ€

โ€œThanks! When will you be back?โ€ I asked.

โ€œIn a few daysโ€ฆโ€ Benjamin hesitated before adding, โ€œMy dadโ€™s leg injury worsened yesterday. Heโ€™s still in the hospital, and his wolf has gone into a deep sleep because of how severe the injuries are.โ€

โ€œYou must have your hands full! Letโ€™s talk later,โ€ I said, realizing he had a lot going on and deciding not to keep him any longer. โ€œAlright, take care of yourself and wait for me to return.โ€

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

After ending the call and slipping my phone into my pocket, my mother immediately asked, โ€œWas that the fiancรฉe your grandfather chose for you?โ€

I nodded. My motherโ€™s face clouded with displeasure. โ€œI have no idea what your grandfather was thinking, pairing you with a frail Omega to be your Luna!โ€

Hearing this, I furrowed my brows, feeling a hint of frustration. I tried to explain, โ€œMom, sheโ€™s not what you think. Sheโ€ฆโ€

But my mother cut me off sharply, โ€œI donโ€™t need to know what kind of person she is. All I know is that, given her rank, sheโ€™s not good enough for you!โ€

โ€œNow that your Grandpa is gone, I think itโ€™s time to end this engagement. Let me find someone more suitable for youโ€”at least a higher-ranked Beta to be your mate.โ€

She continued, โ€œThis way, the next generation of Alpha heirs you have will be the strongest, and it will benefit the growth of our Midnight Pack.โ€

I wasnโ€™t pleased by her words, so I asserted my Alpha authority without hesitation. โ€œMom, this is my decision, and I donโ€™t need you to worry about it. You should be focusing more on Dadโ€™s leg.โ€

โ€œAlright, I wonโ€™t say anything else!โ€ My mother noticed my frustration and fell silent.

But she was still firm in her stance. โ€œHowever, Iโ€™ll say thisโ€”youโ€™re not truly engaged. Sooner or later, Iโ€™ll petition the Moon Goddess to break off this engagement!โ€
