Chapter 846

โ€œAlright, letโ€™s go get something to eat,โ€ Edward said, slinging his arm around her shoulders. โ€œThen we can catch a movie. Thereโ€™s this midnight horror flick Iโ€™ve been dying to watch. Iโ€™m so hyped.โ€

The two of them left together, all sweet and lovey-dovey.

Meanwhile, Irene was livid, about to explode from how much Miriam had pissed her off.

Heidi said, โ€œI donโ€™t like Miriam either. Edward is just fooling around. Heโ€™s only twenty. Thereโ€™s no way heโ€™d marry someone that old. Honestly, I think sheโ€™s pathetic.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s more like it,โ€ Irene said, finally feeling a bit better. โ€œOtherwise, Edward will end up with the same fate as Jonathan.โ€

โ€œI mean, Jonathanโ€™s got so much going for him. Why does he have to be so fixated on just one woman?โ€ Heidi asked, shaking her head.

After a pause, Heidi said, โ€œIt must be because Jonathan is worried about the child. If you take custody and cut Teresa off, theyโ€™ll have no reason to stay in contact anymore.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re right,โ€ Irene said, getting to her feet. โ€œIโ€™m heading home now. Tomorrow, Iโ€™ll go find Teresa and have a proper talk with her.โ€

After Irene left, Heidi said with a long sigh of relief, โ€œFinally, sheโ€™s gone.โ€

Every time Irene came over, it was either to show off or to whine about something. No one could put up with that for long.

The next day at work, Teresa got a message from Irene asking to meet her alone. โ€˜Is she going to apologize this time?โ€™ Teresa wondered to herself.

Honestly, she wished she could sit down and have a peaceful, grown-up talk with Irene.

But every single time, that woman would give her that look of utter disdain, always acting like Teresa was chasing after her son.

โ€˜Sorry, baby. Youโ€™ll have to put up with this for a bit,โ€™ Teresa murmured, gently rubbing her belly. She didnโ€™t want Irene to notice she was pregnant, so she used a waist binder to hide it before heading out to meet her.

Teresa arrived at a private cafรฉ five minutes late. She sat down across from Irene and explained, โ€œSorry, there was traffic.โ€

Irene studied her face. โ€œYou know why I came to meet you, right?โ€

Teresa asked, her tone half-mocking, โ€œAre you here to apologize to me?โ€

โ€œApologize?โ€ Irene said as she drummed her fingers on the table. โ€œWhy should I apologize to you? Just say how much you want. Name your price.โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean by saying that?โ€ Teresa pressed, her confusion growing.

Irene spoke each word slowly and deliberately. โ€œHow much do you want in exchange for giving up custody of Mike and leaving Nareigh for good?โ€

Teresa had hoped Irene might treat her a little better this time. โ€˜What was I even hoping for?โ€™ she scoffed inwardly at her wishful thinking.

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you get lost yourself? Who are you to tell me to leave? If I ever go, Iโ€™m taking my kid with me. And trust me, none of your family will ever lay eyes on Mike again,โ€ Teresa snapped back.

โ€œAlright, Teresa, since you wonโ€™t take the easy way out, donโ€™t blame me for making things ugly for you,โ€ Irene said coldly, her tone full of threat.

Teresa snapped, โ€œWhen is this ever going to end? From Yvonne to the Kelly familyโ€™s heiress. How long are you going to keep coming after me before you let me go?โ€

โ€œWhen are you ever going to let Jonathan go? Just say it,โ€ Irene demanded, her voice sharp and accusing.

โ€œMe? How have I not let him go?โ€ Teresa shot back, clutching her belly as a sudden pain stabbed through her.

Irene didnโ€™t even notice how pale Teresa looked, or the sweat on her forehead, or how much pain she was in.

Irene kept pushing, her words sharp and unforgiving. โ€œBe honest with yourself. Are you saying you want nothing from Jonathan? Why did you even have Mike?โ€

โ€œBecause I love him. I love Jonathan,โ€ Teresa couldnโ€™t hold it back anymore and shouted the truth straight at Irene, her real feelings bursting out at last.
