Chapter 830
Jonathanโs eyes sparkled as he turned around. Then he met Teresaโs apologetic gaze. Teresa looked at him, hastily wiped her tears away, and said, โI thought you left.โ
Jonathan lifted the bag he was holding. โI brought you some medicine. I was just about to head back.โ
โPregnant women shouldnโt take medicine,โ Teresa said.
โThese are supplements that wonโt harm the baby,โ Jonathan replied and held her hand. He smiled and asked, โSo, why did you say sorry and hug me just now?โ
Teresa almost never hugged him first, so Jonathan couldnโt just ignore it this time.
Teresa explained, โYouโve helped my family so much, and I even lost my temper with you. Of course I should apologize.โ
โI didnโt really do much,โ Jonathan replied, gently leading her into the elevator.
โDonโt be so modest,โ Teresa said guiltily. โMy mom called and told me she had fainted. You stayed with her all night, and I even blamed you.โ
All of a sudden, she felt even worse. With the pregnancy, she could hardly control her emotions, and her tears just kept falling.
โDonโt cry,โ Jonathan said, gently cupping her face and wiping away her tears with his thumbs.
โI was wrong, too. I shouldโve called to check on you. I shouldnโt have let my pregnant wife come all this way to see me,โ he added.
Teresa looked into his deep eyes and said, โDid you secretly take the meds you bought for me and lose your mind? Iโm not your wife anymore.โ
Jonathan fell silent. He stared at Teresa for a long while before speaking again. โI remember before we got divorced, you used to sneak up and hug me from behind just to startle me all the time. I wish we could go back to those days.โ
Teresa was taken aback. She thought, โCan we really go back to how things used to be? After everything that has happened, with all the distance and walls between us, is it even possible?โ
She looked at him, feeling at a loss. Jonathan was also staring at her. Then, slowly, he lowered his head, and then his warm lips brushed away the tears on her cheeks. He gently kissed her nose, and then finally her lips.
Teresa closed her eyes with tears slipping down her cheeks. At that moment, she suddenly found herself wishing they had never gotten divorced. But just like a mirrorโeasy to break, but so hard to piece back together.
The elevator arrived and the doors opened. The sound pulled both of them back to reality. Teresa snapped out of it and pushed Jonathan away.
Her lips were still tinged with his scent and taste, making her heart race. Maybe that kiss had made both of them lose their senses for a moment.
The doctor came in to do his rounds. He told Jonathan, โYour wife is fine now. She can be discharged. Just come back for regular check-ups and prenatal visits.โ
โThank you,โ Teresa replied.
Teresa watched as Jonathan rushed around, taking care of all the paperwork. She followed him downstairs, and she had become much calmer now. After all, the companyโs problems had been sorted out, all thanks to him.
โI want to go back to Nareigh today,โ she said.
โI booked a flight for tomorrow. Letโs go back together, then,โ Jonathan replied. He looked at Teresaโs face with his deep eyes. Teresa couldnโt help but feel a bit embarrassed. She wondered, โWhy is he staring at me like that?โ
โSo, what are we going to do today if weโre not going back?โ she asked.
โWhat do you want to do?โ Jonathan asked. โIs there anywhere you want to go? I can take you there.โ
Teresa shook her head. โNot really. How about I treat you to dinner? I wanna thank you for investing in Teresouth Group.โ
Jonathan nodded. โSure.โ
Teresa was planning to treat him to a meal at a restaurant, but he surprised her by saying he didnโt want to eat out. Instead, he suddenly said he wanted to have some of her homemade gruel.
