Budely greeting him, she asked, โ€œWhenโ€™t Jonathanโ€ฆโ€

โ€œMr. Lynn went to Jarisburg and hasnโ€™t come back yet,โ€ Bobby replied.

โ€œReally? When will he be back?โ€ Teresa asked.

โ€œIโ€™m not sure about that, Ms. Johnston. Is there something you need from Mr. Lynn? You can call him, or I can pass along a message for you,โ€ Bobby offered.

Terese thought for a moment but then shook her head. โ€œNo, itโ€™s nothing important.โ€ With Jonathan not around, she obviously couldnโ€™t say those things to his secretary.

Bobby watched Teresa leave and noticed the worried frown on her face. He hesitated for a moment before deciding to give Jonathan a call. โ€œMr. Lynn, Ms. Johnston just stopped by the office to see you,โ€ Bobby reported.

Jonathan was caught off guard for a second. Then he asked, โ€œDid she say what she wanted?โ€

โ€œShe didnโ€™t mention anything specific. I already told her you were in Jarisburg,โ€ Bobby replied.

โ€œAnd you didnโ€™t tell her to call me if she needed something?โ€ Jonathan pressed.

โ€œI did tell her. She said she understood and then left,โ€ Bobby replied.

Jonathan hung up the phone and quickly checked his call log, worried he might have missed a call from Teresa. But there was nothingโ€“no missed calls, no messages.

He thought for a moment, wondering if Teresa really had something urgent that made her come to the office to find him.

He thought, โ€˜Could it be that she needed me for something?โ€˜ Then he decided to give her a call.

โ€œThe person youโ€™re calling is currently on another callโ€ฆโ€ the automated voice droned.

Jonathan frowned and then ended the call.

โ€œJonathan.โ€ Evelyn called out to him and said, โ€œCould you please help Lucas with his discharge? He doesnโ€™t want to stay in the hospital anymore. Iโ€™m planning to take him back to Nareigh so he can get some proper rest for a while.โ€

โ€œSure,โ€ Jonathan replied. โ€œIโ€™ll book your tickets. When do you want to leave?โ€

โ€œTonight, if possible, Isabelโ€™s still at home. Sheโ€™s still little and is missing me,โ€ Evelyn explained.

โ€œI see,โ€ Jonathan said, starting to make the arrangements.

Evelyn thanked Jonathan for his help over the past few days. โ€œThereโ€™s one more thing, Jonathan. Itโ€™s about Peggyโ€™s lawsuit.โ€

She knew Jonathan had been handling Peggyโ€™s case all this time, and she hoped he could show some leniency. Whatever sentence Peggy receivedโ€“even if it was years in prisonโ€“she just didnโ€™t want it to be the death penalty.

โ€œEvelyn, itโ€™s not about me going easy on her. She hurt you and Lucas. Are you sure you want to let her off that easily?โ€ Jonathan asked.

โ€œJust spare her life. Thatโ€™s what I want, and itโ€™s what Lucas wants, too,โ€ Evelyn replied.

Jonathan pursed his lips slightly and nodded. โ€œOkay.โ€

Just then, Jonathanโ€™s phone rang. Jonathan answered, but it wasnโ€™t Teresa calling. Jonathanโ€™s eyes briefly showed a flash of disappointment. He exchanged a few words about work with the caller and then hung up.

Turning to Evelyn, he said, โ€œI need to head to a business party at Prosper Group. If you need anything, just give me a call.โ€

Evelyn nodded. โ€œOkay.โ€

At eleven oโ€™clock that night, Teresa arrived in Jarisburg and got a call from Miriam. Miriam let out a frustrated sigh. โ€œThe deal still hasnโ€™t gone through. Itโ€™s pretty obvious someoneโ€™s targeting Teresouth Group.โ€

Teresa replied, โ€œI got it. Iโ€™m already in Jarisburg. Iโ€™ll handle things for the company.โ€

โ€œHow are you going to handle this, Teresa?โ€ Miriam asked.

โ€œIโ€™ll deal with it at the source. I think I know whoโ€™s messing with Teresouth Group. Iโ€™ll have a talk with that guy,โ€ Teresa said.
