Budely greeting him, she asked, โWhenโt Jonathanโฆโ
โMr. Lynn went to Jarisburg and hasnโt come back yet,โ Bobby replied.
โReally? When will he be back?โ Teresa asked.
caption desk the didnโt end pen pham, but the did suhte
โIโm not sure about that, Ms. Johnston. Is there something you need from Mr. Lynn? You can call him, or I can pass along a message for you,โ Bobby offered.
Terese thought for a moment but then shook her head. โNo, itโs nothing important.โ With Jonathan not around, she obviously couldnโt say those things to his secretary.
Bobby watched Teresa leave and noticed the worried frown on her face. He hesitated for a moment before deciding to give Jonathan a call. โMr. Lynn, Ms. Johnston just stopped by the office to see you,โ Bobby reported.
Jonathan was caught off guard for a second. Then he asked, โDid she say what she wanted?โ
โShe didnโt mention anything specific. I already told her you were in Jarisburg,โ Bobby replied.
โAnd you didnโt tell her to call me if she needed something?โ Jonathan pressed.
โI did tell her. She said she understood and then left,โ Bobby replied.
Jonathan hung up the phone and quickly checked his call log, worried he might have missed a call from Teresa. But there was nothingโno missed calls, no messages.
He thought for a moment, wondering if Teresa really had something urgent that made her come to the office to find him.
He thought, โCould it be that she needed me for something?โ Then he decided to give her a call.
โThe person youโre calling is currently on another callโฆโ the automated voice droned.
Jonathan frowned and then ended the call.
โJonathan.โ Evelyn called out to him and said, โCould you please help Lucas with his discharge? He doesnโt want to stay in the hospital anymore. Iโm planning to take him back to Nareigh so he can get some proper rest for a while.โ
โSure,โ Jonathan replied. โIโll book your tickets. When do you want to leave?โ
โTonight, if possible, Isabelโs still at home. Sheโs still little and is missing me,โ Evelyn explained.
โI see,โ Jonathan said, starting to make the arrangements.
Evelyn thanked Jonathan for his help over the past few days. โThereโs one more thing, Jonathan. Itโs about Peggyโs lawsuit.โ
She knew Jonathan had been handling Peggyโs case all this time, and she hoped he could show some leniency. Whatever sentence Peggy receivedโeven if it was years in prisonโshe just didnโt want it to be the death penalty.
โEvelyn, itโs not about me going easy on her. She hurt you and Lucas. Are you sure you want to let her off that easily?โ Jonathan asked.
โJust spare her life. Thatโs what I want, and itโs what Lucas wants, too,โ Evelyn replied.
Jonathan pursed his lips slightly and nodded. โOkay.โ
Just then, Jonathanโs phone rang. Jonathan answered, but it wasnโt Teresa calling. Jonathanโs eyes briefly showed a flash of disappointment. He exchanged a few words about work with the caller and then hung up.
Turning to Evelyn, he said, โI need to head to a business party at Prosper Group. If you need anything, just give me a call.โ
Evelyn nodded. โOkay.โ
At eleven oโclock that night, Teresa arrived in Jarisburg and got a call from Miriam. Miriam let out a frustrated sigh. โThe deal still hasnโt gone through. Itโs pretty obvious someoneโs targeting Teresouth Group.โ
Teresa replied, โI got it. Iโm already in Jarisburg. Iโll handle things for the company.โ
โHow are you going to handle this, Teresa?โ Miriam asked.
โIโll deal with it at the source. I think I know whoโs messing with Teresouth Group. Iโll have a talk with that guy,โ Teresa said.
