Chapter 806
Teresa took out her phone and dialed Jonathanโs number.
Jonathan answered the call, โHello?โ
โItโs me. I want to get discharged,โ Teresa said, getting straight to the point.
Jonathan was silent for a few seconds. โWhy do you want to be discharged?โ
Teresa said, โIโve been in the hospital for several days already. Iโm fine now. The doctor said I just need to rest at home.โ
โWait for me to get back from Jarisburg, and Iโll pick you up,โ Jonathan said.
โNo need. Iโm leaving the hospital today. Donโt worry. Iโll take care of the baby,โ Teresa insisted.
Jonathan noticed the urgency in Teresaโs voice. โWhy are you in such a hurry to leave the hospital? Is there something you need to do?โ he asked.
โIโm going to pick up Mike. You sent him to the Lynn residence, right?โ Teresa replied.
Jonathan explained patiently, โGrandpa called me many times, insisting that Mike come over for a meal. I kept telling him Mike was still in Jarisburg and couldnโt make it back."
"Since heโs back today, I figured Iโd let him see Mike once. Donโt worry, Iโll send Mike back to you soon.โ
Worried that Teresa might still be uneasy, he added, โRelax, I got it. Thereโs no way our son will go missing.โ
โItโs not about whether heโll go missing or not!โ Teresa snapped.
Jonathan fell silent.
Teresa continued, โWhen you sent Mike to your home, couldnโt you have discussed it with me first? You clearly said Benny would bring him to me, but then you had Benny take him to the Lynn residence instead. I waited at the hospital all day.โ
Jonathan replied, โI didnโt say Benny would bring him to you. I said Benny would take him back to Nareigh. I thought it would be good for Mike to stop by the Lynn residence first."
โGrandpa has been in a bad mood since he found out about Donaldโs divorce, and seeing Mike might cheer him up. I planned to send Mike back to you tonight.โ
He went through the whole explanation all over again. If it were anyone else, he wouldnโt even waste more than ten words on them.
โI see,โ Teresa said. โI hope next time youโll let me know in advance if something like this happens.โ
Jonathan took a deep breath. He thought, โIโm Mikeโs dad. Canโt I even make a call about my own kid? Iโve been running around Jarisburg dealing with her familyโs mess, and now sheโs mad at me over something this small?
โSeriously, what does she think Iโm gonna do to our kid?โ I already told her Iโm not trying to take him away, so whatโs she still so on guard for? Whatโs she so scared of?โ
โMr. Lynn,โ a bodyguardโs voice came through the phone. โShould we let Ms. Johnston leave the hospital?โ
โLet her be discharged, and give her back her phone. Who allowed you to take her phone?โ Jonathan said sharply.
โOkay.โ The bodyguard handed the phone back to Teresa, looking a bit aggrieved.
Jonathan then said to Teresa, โAlright, you can leave the hospital. Have the chauffeur take you home. Take care of yourself, alright? And remember what you promised. Donโt upset yourself and risk the baby.โ
โI know.โ Teresa hung up.
Meanwhile, at the Lynn residence. Hayden was indeed in a bad mood. After all, Donald and Jennifer got divorced.
Hayden asked Werner, โAre all the men in our family just failures?โ
Werner felt incredibly awkward. He said, โDad, why would you say so?โ
โWhy is it that none of the men in our family can have a successful marriage? Jonathanโs divorced, and now Donaldโs divorced, too. Alas. Maybe thereโs something wrong with the way we raised them,โ Hayden said with a sigh.
Werner tried to comfort him, โThese days, divorce happens all the time with young people. Itโs nothing unusual.โ
