Chapter 792

Jenniferโ€™s face was streaked with tears as she looked at Teresa and shook her head.

She said, โ€œBut I really canโ€™t go on anymore, Teresa. I have nothing left. Iโ€™m such a coward. I just donโ€™t have the courage to start over. Iโ€™m sorry, Teresa. Iโ€™m really, really sorry.โ€

She kept saying sorry to Teresa. Then she turned around, closed her eyes, and got ready to jump.

โ€œJennifer, no!โ€ Once again, a voice rang out behind her.

Unlike when Teresa called her, Jennifer didnโ€™t turn around immediately. She stiffened, clenched her fists, and her whole body tensed up.

Donald strode up to Jennifer and then stopped just a step away. He looked up at her, seeing Jennifer teetering on the edge.

Staring at her back, he choked up. โ€œJennifer, itโ€™s meโ€ฆ Iโ€™m late. Please come down. Letโ€™s go home, okay?โ€

Jennifer still didnโ€™t turn around. Her eyes were already blurred with tears.

She struggled to speak, โ€œForget about me, Donald. Youโ€™re right. Iโ€™m not good enough to be your wife. Just sell the house, meet someone who truly suits you, and get remarried. I hope you find happiness.โ€

โ€œPlease, youโ€™ve got it all wrong! I know youโ€™re upset, but just hear me out. That girl at the hospitalโ€“itโ€™s not what you think. She confessed her feelings to me, but I turned her down. I told her I was married, and she never bothered me again.

โ€œI had no idea youโ€™d go to the hospital, or that youโ€™d see that and misunderstand. And I didnโ€™t know things in your family had gotten so bad for you!โ€

Jennifer still didnโ€™t turn around. She waited until Donald finished speaking. Then she took a deep breath and said, โ€œIt doesnโ€™t matter anymore.โ€

Her voice was soft and almost emotionless. โ€œEverything my mother said was true. I shouldnโ€™t have been born. I was never meant to be alive.โ€

Donald said, โ€œWhy punish yourself for someone elseโ€™s mistakes? If she could say something like that to you, then she doesnโ€™t deserve to be your mother. Youโ€™re still Jennifer, no matter what.

โ€œDonโ€™t let what she said mess with your head. Please, just come down, okay? Iโ€™m begging youโ€ฆโ€

Jennifer finally turned around. She clutched at her chest in agony and said, โ€œBut Iโ€™ve made so many mistakes. I hate myself for it! I hurt the people I love, and I hurt so many innocent people, too. I donโ€™t deserve to live. I donโ€™tโ€ฆโ€

Donald said, โ€œThen let me atone with you. Weโ€™re still a couple. We should face this together.โ€

โ€œNo!โ€ Jennifer tensed up again. โ€œEverything Iโ€™ve done wrong is my own fault. It has nothing to do with you. Donald, please, Iโ€™m begging youโ€“ live your life, be happy, and just forget about meโ€ฆโ€

As soon as Jennifer finished speaking, she threw her head back and leapt off the edge.

โ€œNo-!โ€ Donald exclaimed. His desperate cry echoed through the air.

Donald caught one of Jenniferโ€™s arms. Teresa dashed over and seized Jenniferโ€™s other hand. Jennifer was left dangling in the air, and her whole body was suspended above the void.

Staring at the two people holding onto herโ€“one was the man she loved most, the other the sister she cherished more than anyoneโ€“Jennifer was overwhelmed with guilt for having hurt them both.

She said, โ€œTeresa, Donald, just let me go. I donโ€™t deserve to live. I really donโ€™tโ€ฆโ€

Donald gripped Jenniferโ€™s arm with all his strength and struggled to say, โ€œIโ€™m not letting you die. I saved you once before, and Iโ€™ll save you again.โ€

He fought desperately, using every ounce of strength to haul Jennifer back up to safety. Down below, the firefighters had already set up a rescue air cushion.
