Chapter 756
Teresa paused, surprised to see Jonathan sitting there. She was only wrapped in a towel, not even in her pajamas yet. “What are you doing here?” she asked.
Jonathan looked up, his eyes darkening as they landed on her bare chest. He coughed awkwardly. “We really need to talk.”
“Talk about what?” Teresa tucked the towel more securely over her chest, took off her shower cap, and started rubbing oil through her hair. Pregnancy had given her a plump, showy figure, her glowing skin looking extra smooth and delicate.
Teresa waited, but Jonathan stayed silent. She glanced over and caught him staring at her. “What’s up with you? What do you want to talk about?” she pressed.
Jonathan finally snapped out of it, his Adam’s apple moving as he swallowed hard. “You have to promise me: no more dangerous stunts like today, ever. If you do, don’t blame me for locking you down. I’ll be watching you around the clock.”
Teresa’s hand paused as she dried her hair. She took a deep breath. “Honestly, I thought about it while I was showering. It really was too dangerous today.
“I shouldn’t have rushed over, not when I’m pregnant. If anything happened to the baby… I won’t be so impulsive again.”
With that, she glanced at Jonathan. “Alright? Is that okay now?”
Jonathan hadn’t expected Teresa to admit her mistake so easily. He leaned back on the bed, propping himself up with his hands. “As long as you listen, that’s all I want.”
“Can you step out for a minute? I need to get changed,” Teresa said.
Jonathan frowned, dragging his feet as he got up, clearly not wanting to leave. “I’m heading to Jarisburg tomorrow.”
Teresa blinked in surprise. “I thought you were going to Eleneburg?”
“That’s next week. There’s a contract in Jarisburg that I need to handle in person. I’ll try to get back the same day,” Jonathan responded.
Teresa thought for a moment. “Why don’t you take Mike with you? I took him to Jarisburg last year, but he didn’t get to have much fun.
“There were too many people, and Miriam and I couldn’t book tickets for a lot of places. Just a few days ago, he said he wanted to stay in that courtyard house of yours. He missed out last time.”
Jonathan frowned. “How does Mike even know about my place? Did you take him there?”
Teresa reminded him, “Remember when Miriam and I took him to Jarisburg? We happened to run into Edward. We couldn’t get a hotel, so he brought us to your courtyard house. We just looked around inside.”
Jonathan paused for a couple of seconds and then got it. “No wonder you weren’t surprised when I showed you the place. So that’s what happened. Our son had already been there, and you all went together.”
“Yeah,” Teresa said, turning on the hair dryer and continuing to dry her damp hair. “Then you called Edward and told him not to let us stay, so we had to leave.”
Jonathan finally understood, and he couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed. “I thought he went there alone, so I told him not to stay.
“If you’d just told me you were there with our son, there was no way I would’ve kicked you guys out.”
Teresa coughed, quickly changing the subject. “Anyway, you should just take Mike with you this time. He really likes spending time with you. Let him stay in the courtyard house.”
Jonathan was silent for a moment before saying, “Why don’t you come, too? I’ll change my schedule, and we can stay a couple more days there before heading back.”
“I’ll pass. It’s almost October, and there are way too many tourists. Plus, I’m pregnant. I really don’t want to get squeezed among those crowds.” Teresa said, adding that she also had to go to Teresouth Group tomorrow.
Jonathan figured she had a point; safety was the top priority. “Alright, but while you’re here in Nareigh, I’m sending two bodyguards to stay with you. I just can’t relax otherwise.”
