Chapter 756

Teresa paused, surprised to see Jonathan sitting there. She was only wrapped in a towel, not even in her pajamas yet. โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ she asked.

Jonathan looked up, his eyes darkening as they landed on her bare chest. He coughed awkwardly. โ€œWe really need to talk.โ€

โ€œTalk about what?โ€ Teresa tucked the towel more securely over her chest, took off her shower cap, and started rubbing oil through her hair. Pregnancy had given her a plump, showy figure, her glowing skin looking extra smooth and delicate.

Teresa waited, but Jonathan stayed silent. She glanced over and caught him staring at her. โ€œWhatโ€™s up with you? What do you want to talk about?โ€ she pressed.

Jonathan finally snapped out of it, his Adamโ€™s apple moving as he swallowed hard. โ€œYou have to promise me: no more dangerous stunts like today, ever. If you do, donโ€™t blame me for locking you down. Iโ€™ll be watching you around the clock.โ€

Teresaโ€™s hand paused as she dried her hair. She took a deep breath. โ€œHonestly, I thought about it while I was showering. It really was too dangerous today.

โ€œI shouldnโ€™t have rushed over, not when Iโ€™m pregnant. If anything happened to the babyโ€ฆ I wonโ€™t be so impulsive again.โ€

With that, she glanced at Jonathan. โ€œAlright? Is that okay now?โ€

Jonathan hadnโ€™t expected Teresa to admit her mistake so easily. He leaned back on the bed, propping himself up with his hands. โ€œAs long as you listen, thatโ€™s all I want.โ€

โ€œCan you step out for a minute? I need to get changed,โ€ Teresa said.

Jonathan frowned, dragging his feet as he got up, clearly not wanting to leave. โ€œIโ€™m heading to Jarisburg tomorrow.โ€

Teresa blinked in surprise. โ€œI thought you were going to Eleneburg?โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s next week. Thereโ€™s a contract in Jarisburg that I need to handle in person. Iโ€™ll try to get back the same day,โ€ Jonathan responded.

Teresa thought for a moment. โ€œWhy donโ€™t you take Mike with you? I took him to Jarisburg last year, but he didnโ€™t get to have much fun.

โ€œThere were too many people, and Miriam and I couldnโ€™t book tickets for a lot of places. Just a few days ago, he said he wanted to stay in that courtyard house of yours. He missed out last time.โ€

Jonathan frowned. โ€œHow does Mike even know about my place? Did you take him there?โ€

Teresa reminded him, โ€œRemember when Miriam and I took him to Jarisburg? We happened to run into Edward. We couldnโ€™t get a hotel, so he brought us to your courtyard house. We just looked around inside.โ€

Jonathan paused for a couple of seconds and then got it. โ€œNo wonder you werenโ€™t surprised when I showed you the place. So thatโ€™s what happened. Our son had already been there, and you all went together.โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ Teresa said, turning on the hair dryer and continuing to dry her damp hair. โ€œThen you called Edward and told him not to let us stay, so we had to leave.โ€

Jonathan finally understood, and he couldnโ€™t help but feel a bit annoyed. โ€œI thought he went there alone, so I told him not to stay.

โ€œIf youโ€™d just told me you were there with our son, there was no way I wouldโ€™ve kicked you guys out.โ€

Teresa coughed, quickly changing the subject. โ€œAnyway, you should just take Mike with you this time. He really likes spending time with you. Let him stay in the courtyard house.โ€

Jonathan was silent for a moment before saying, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you come, too? Iโ€™ll change my schedule, and we can stay a couple more days there before heading back.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll pass. Itโ€™s almost October, and there are way too many tourists. Plus, Iโ€™m pregnant. I really donโ€™t want to get squeezed among those crowds.โ€ Teresa said, adding that she also had to go to Teresouth Group tomorrow.

Jonathan figured she had a point; safety was the top priority. โ€œAlright, but while youโ€™re here in Nareigh, Iโ€™m sending two bodyguards to stay with you. I just canโ€™t relax otherwise.โ€
