Chapter 719
Teresa, who hadnโt eaten all day, slowly sipped the soup. Jonathan had cooked it to perfection. โTry the foie gras I made,โ Jonathan said, using his fork to serve her some. He wasnโt eating himself.
โIs it good?โ Jonathan asked. Teresa nodded and took a few more sips, remaining silent. Michael raised his arm. โMr. Daddy Lime, I want the tool!โ
โYou little rascal,โ Jonathan chuckled, serving Michael as well. He had to look after all three of them. โIs it good, Mike?โ
โItโs so good!โ Michael gave a big thumbs-up. โIt tastes way better than last yearโs, like, ten times better.โ
Jonathanโs eyes flashed with guilt. Last year, he hadnโt even known Michael was his son. Theyโd only met a handful of times, and yet Michael had been craving his cooking ever since.
โFrom now on, Iโll cook for you and your mom all the time, okay?โ Jonathan said gently.
โThatโs awesome!โ Michael threw both his little hands up in joy. Looking at this warm, cozy scene, he suddenly realized how rare such moments were. It had been so long since heโd felt this happy.
โHave some too, Mr. Lime,โ Michael said, clumsily picking up some food for Jonathan with his little fork.
Jonathan thanked him and said, โThe chicken soup should be ready. Iโll go check on it.โ Heโd just made a small bowl. โLet Mom have this bowl first, okay? You can have some of the other dishes,โ Jonathan told Michael.
Teresa was already full. She really couldnโt drink another drop.
โJust a little more. The doctor said you need more nutrition. I made sure itโs not fishy at all. Give it a try, okay?โ Jonathan coaxed.
Teresa thought she couldnโt eat another bite, but after a sip of the soup, she had to admit that Jonathan really knew his way around the kitchen. Before she realized it, the little bowl was empty. Now she was really stuffed.
As Jonathan started clearing the tableware, Teresa rolled up her sleeves and headed to the kitchen. She wanted to do the dishes to thank him for cooking.
โGo sit down, you donโt need to do this,โ Jonathan said, glancing at Michael, who was helping clear the tableware. โDadโs got this. Take Mom to watch some TV for a bit.โ
โYes, sir!โ Michael replied obediently, always quick to listen to Jonathan.
After the kitchen was spotless, Jonathan saw Michael napping on Teresaโs lap. He gently scooped Michael up and said to her, โIโll take him to his room.โ
As Jonathan carried him, Michael snuggled against his shoulder, leaving a little trail of drool on Jonathanโs shirt.
After making sure Michael was settled, Jonathan closed the door and walked toward Teresa, who was still sitting on the couch. He sat down across from her. โWe need to have another talk.โ
โAbout what?โ Teresa asked.
โFirst, about Mike. My whole family knows nowโGrandpa, my mom, even Werner and his family. Everyoneโs in the loop.โ
Ever since Jonathan found out Michaelโs identity, Teresa had known it was only a matter of time before Irene and the rest of his family found out too.
โWhat about my pregnancy? Did you tell them about that too?โ she asked, a hint of worry in her voice.
โNot yet,โ Jonathan replied. โI wanted to talk to you about it first. Besides me, who else knows youโre pregnant?โ
โJennifer and my mom,โ Teresa said. She hadnโt even told Miriam.
Jonathan frowned. โWhy didnโt you tell Miriam this time? Because sheโs with Edward now, and youโre afraid sheโll tell him, and then heโll come running to me?โ
โThatโs part of it,โ Teresa admitted. โBut honestly, I just donโt want your family to know about my pregnancy. Iโm asking you, please donโt say anything to them.โ
