Chapter 598
Benny cleared his throat and said, โWhat I mean is, if Cheryl is affected psychologically, will it affect her views on marriage?โ
Beant sighed. โIโve told you about this. Cathy is really pitiful. What if she's already married, but poor Cheryl would suffer the most? What if her father readily has a press conference and abandons his wife and kids for her? #tia Donaldโ
Jonathan gave him a cool, sidelong glance. โSince when have you been so concerned about Cheryl?โ
Benny raised a hand. โAlright, donโt get me wrong. Iโm just speaking my mind. You know my type, Iโm not into young girls like that.โ
Jonathan said, โI didnโt even ask if you were interested in her.โ
โHey,โ Benny realized heโd just fallen into someoneโs trap. He quickly scrambled out, straightened his clothes, and stood up. โAlright, Iโm off now.โ
Jonathan fixed his gaze on the document Benny had left behind, lost in thought.
Cheryl went to Teresaโs place to pick up Serena. Noticing Cherylโs seemingly carefree demeanor, Teresa subtly probed, โSo you just went back and came right back?โ
โOh, right, I didnโt even realize today was my parentsโ wedding anniversary,โ Cheryl said, hugging Serena and kissing her on the cheek. She then turned to Teresa and added, โThey wanted me to stay home for a couple of days, but of course, I couldnโt just stay there, so I made an excuse to come over instead.โ
Cheryl was very grateful to Teresa for taking care of Serena and wanted to send her a money transfer as a token of thanks.
โCome on, just keep that money and buy some diapers for the baby,โ Teresa said dismissively. She really didnโt care about that measly money.
โLet me give you a ride,โ Teresa offered. โI donโt have much to do today.โ
โThen I wonโt stand on ceremony!โ Cheryl couldnโt have been happier.
Teresa packed up some things for Cheryl, including some clothes Michael had when he was one year old. Most of them had never even been worn. She asked Cheryl if she wanted them.
Teresa thought, โIf she wants them, Iโll keep the clothes for her; otherwise, I was just about to throw them all out.โ
Cheryl looked at the tiny designer clothes, the fabric incredibly soft, and accepted them without hesitation.
โI got a few new outfits for Serena, and some for you too. Plus, there are some face masks and cosmetics. Just take them all, okay?โ
Cheryl was incredibly touched. She said, โTeresa, thank you so much for being so good to me and Serena.โ
Compared to the notoriously stingy Jennifer, Teresa, though not officially her sister-in-law, always made Cheryl feel incredibly warm at heart.
Jonathan was just getting off work when he spotted Teresaโs car two vehicles ahead of him.
Teresa, however, didnโt notice Jonathanโs car. Inside her car were Cheryl, Serena, and Michael.
A glint flashed in Jonathanโs eyes as he spotted Cathy sitting on a bench by the roadside.
Jonathan frowned and instructed his driver to pull over. By the time Jonathanโs car came to a stop, Teresaโs car had already turned a bend.
Cathy looked up and saw Jonathan. She stood up and said, โJonathan, what are you doing here? Are you off work?โ
Jonathan looked at Cathy and asked gently. โCathy, have you eaten? If not, letโs grab a bite together.โ
โNo, thanks. Iโm not very hungry. I was just about to pick up some things at the supermarket and then head home.โ
Seeing this, Jonathan didnโt press further. โHow have Donald and Cheryl been lately?โ
โTheyโre both doing great at work, but Cheryl still hasnโt found a boyfriend yet. If you know anyone suitable, maybe you could help her find someone.โ
Jonathan nodded. โIโve always treated Cheryl like my own sister. Iโll keep an eye out for suitable men for her. Iโll certainly do what I can.โ
Cathy fell silent. Just as Jonathan was about to leave, she suddenly called out, โWait!โ
As for Donald, if he needs any help at work...
Cathy paused, then said, โJonathan, Iโm actually feeling a bit hungry now. How about I treat you to dinner?โ Jonathan held the car door open for Cathy.
Cathy seemed perfectly composed throughout dinner, showing no emotion.
Cathy managed to hold herself together through dinner, but as soon as she set down her fork, her composure finally shattered.
She poured her heart out to Jonathan, confessing that Werner was having an affair, something Cheryl still didnโt know. Cathy admitted sheโd been desperately searching for evidence, but so far, she hadnโt found a thing.
โJonathan, with all your resources, could you please help me out? Donโt worry. I donโt want to make a scene with Werner. I just want us to divorce and part ways with dignity.โ
Jonathan sighed. โWerner isnโt like that. Maybe thereโs just been a misunderstanding between you two?โ
โI wish it were just a misunderstanding,โ Cathy said, taking the tissue Jonathan handed her. โHe secretly transferred out a total of 150 thousand dollars behind my back, even dipping into our retirement savings.
โWhen I asked who he sent the money to, he just hemmed and hawed, saying it was for a friend. But when I pressed him to name names, he just clammed up completely.
โJonathan, Iโm not asking you for anything else. I know youโre part of the Lynn family. I just hope you can help me investigate who Werner really transferred that money to. Thatโs all I need. Iโll handle everything else myself.โ
Jonathan didnโt respond immediately. Cathy sobbed again. โJonathan, donโt worry. I wonโt let things with Werner turn into a bitter end.
โIโve thought it over: if I make this a public scandal and everyone finds out, the ones whoโll suffer most are Donald and Cheryl. Donald works at the hospital now, and I canโt let his colleagues laugh at him.
โAnd Cherylโs not even married yet. I have to consider her marriage prospects. But my heart aches so much. How could Werner do something like this behind my back?โ
Tears welled up in Cathyโs eyes again. โAll I want now is to get back whatโs rightfully mine. Then Iโll have an amicable divorce with Werner. Weโll each go our own way. Now that the children are grown, this is the most I can do.โ
Jonathan said, โCathy, I get what youโre getting at. Iโm just concerned this might all be a misunderstanding.โ
โIf it really is just a misunderstanding,โ Cathy interjected, โthen that would be the best outcome for everyone. It would mean I was mistaken. After all these years with Werner, deep down, I still believe heโs not that kind of man.โ Jonathan nodded.

Shaville
Irene saw Liora, reduced to nothing but skin and bones. Only then did she truly believe Liora was actually a hac dean shee.
Liora glanced around, confirming Irene was alone. With a bitter smile, she said, โSo, you came just to see how miserable I am? Well, here I am, are you satisfied now?โ
Irene sneered coldly.
โThis is your retribution, from start to finish.โ
Liora rushed to turn her face away with a sneer. โAnd what about your retribution? Or are you just afraid I might reveal that thing about you before I die so youโฆโ
