Chapter 568
Teresa said, โI donโt recall tormenting you. If anything, you were the one who tormented me all night.โ
Jonathan said, โI wore you out physically, but you tortured me mentally.โ
As Jonathan spoke, his expression turned grave. He said, โFrom now on, whenever you see Sanford, stay away from him. He has been approaching you from the very beginning just to get back at me.โ
Teresa didnโt reply. She knew exactly how she felt about Sanford, not a trace of romantic attraction. Still, she was grateful Sanford had made the long trip for Michaelโs sake.
Jonathan was visibly irritated by Teresaโs silence. He demanded, โWhy didnโt you respond? Donโt tell me you still want to see him.โ
Teresa replied, โWho I choose to see is my own business. There are just some things I canโt promise you with absolute certainty.โ
โBut you are so certain to keep your distance from me, arenโt you?โ Jonathan scoffed. โWhen it comes to avoiding me, no one does it better than you. Youโre just doing this to torture me.โ
Teresa said, โFirst, I told you I donโt want to get married again. I just donโt have the confidence to go through marriage again. Our marriage already wore me out. If you want to remarry, I wish you well. Besides, I had no idea you were the one who gave Miriam those concert tickets, and she never told me. When I met Sanford, nothing else happened between us. I offered to pay you back for the tickets, but you refused. Then you brought me to your place, dragged me to your car, and then to your bed without my consent. I begged you to let me go, but you ignored my pleas. So what else do you want me to say? Whatever I say, you always have the last word anyway.โ
With that, Teresa fell silent.
โDo you think youโre the victim here?โ Jonathan stared at Teresa.
Teresa remained silent. Finally, she muttered, โIโm so tired. Let me sleep for a bit. Donโt disturb me. Iโll leave as soon as I wake up.โ
At Nareigh General Hospital, Jennifer answered the call from Cheryl.
Cheryl said, โHereโs the thing. I was already high in the face. Iโm really sorry, but Donald called and insisted I apologize to you. Well, I guess I shouldnโt have hit you, especially notโฆโ
Cherylโs tone dripped with sarcasm. She continued, โI shouldnโt have hit you when you accused my dad of cheating without any proof. Happy now?โ
Jennifer sneered and said, โIf thatโs how you apologize, Iโd rather you didnโt bother.โ
โWhat more do you want?โ Cheryl snapped. โI donโt think I did anything wrong. I wonโt stand for anyone insulting my family.โ
โAm I just anyone to you?โ Jennifer shot back.
Cheryl said, โOr who else? Have you ever treated my parents like your own? You wonโt even call them โMomโ and โDad.โ Youโre even more heartless to me. Thatโs why I donโt see you as my sister-in-law. The only reason Iโm even putting up with you is for Donaldโs sake.โ
Jennifer sneered and said, โDo you think I want to meddle in your family affairs? I only look out for people I care about. If your mother hadnโt come to me for that checkup, I wouldnโt have bothered to point out the truth. Your mother has contracted a high-risk mucosal virus. Youโre not a child anymore. You should know how cervical infections happen.โ
