โYouโre mistaken. It was just a chance encounter,โ Teresa said, then turned and walked away without another word.
Werner watched as Teresa walked away, then turned to Jonathan and asked, โWhatโs going on between you and your ex-wife?โ
Jonathan did not explain. Instead, he asked Werner, โWhereโs Hayden?โ
Werner replied, โHe has already gone back.โ
Jonathan asked, โWhich cabin are you in? Let me upgrade you.โ
โNo need. Economy class will do,โ Werner said, turning to board the plane.
Jonathan glanced at Wernerโs somewhat dejected figure but refrained from asking further.
Teresa pulled a light blanket over herself, settling down to sleep. Jonathan, having boarded, sat quietly beside her, careful not to disturb her.
Teresaโs eyes suddenly snapped open, and she said, โThe more I look, the more I see the resemblance between those two.โ
โWho?โ Jonathan asked.
โWerner and Sanford look like they were cast from the same mold,โ Teresa remarked.
Jonathanโs hand paused on the document, and his brows furrowed slightly.
Teresa turned to Jonathan and asked, โJust whose son is Sanford, really? Is he your half-brother, or is he Donaldโs brother?โ
Jonathan recalled that the DNA test had been conducted using Haydenโs and Sanfordโs samples. His expression turned icy as he said, โI refuse to acknowledge him as my brother.โ
Noticing Jonathanโs clear dislike for Sanford, Teresa let the matter drop. She closed her eyes again to rest.
Once they arrived at Nareigh, Teresa and Jonathan went their separate ways.
Teresaโs secretary was already waiting to pick Teresa up.
Jonathan was heading back to Horizonlead Group while Werner was going home, so they shared a ride.
Werner noticed Jonathan giving him a few extra glances and asked, โWhatโs up? Is there something on my face?โ
Jonathan looked away and suddenly remarked, โYou know, Sanford kind of looks like you.โ
Werner stiffened. Then he forced an awkward chuckle and said, โIs that true? Like uncle, like nephew, they say?โ
Jonathan retorted, โThen how come I donโt look anything like you?โ
Werner cleared his throat awkwardly and said, โCome on now, how could Sanford and I possibly look alike?โ
Werner arrived home and went inside.
Cathy grew anxious when she saw Werner return alone. โWell? Is everything settled now?โ she asked.
Werner shook his head and said, โThe kidโs staying in Shaville. Jonathan made it clear that the kid couldnโt take the Lynn surname or return to the Lynn family.โ
Chapter 550
Cathy said, โJonathanโs right. If they bring that illegitimate child back into the family, it would turn everything upside down. Wouldnโt that just drive Irene mad?โ
Werner frowned and said, โYou sound like youโve got an issue with Irene. Whatโs up?โ
Cathy sneered, โAfter all thatโs happened, she doesnโt even treat me like family, so why should I treat her as one?โ
Cathy was done discussing Irene with Werner and turned to ask him for money. She wanted to get Cheryl a car to make her life easier while living away from home.
Werner retorted, โCheryl doesnโt even have a driverโs license. Whatโs she going to drive?โ
Cathy said, โCherylโs already enrolled in driving lessons. You know how fast young people get their driverโs licenses these days; itโll only take about a month. She wants a Mercedes. Why donโt we just get her one?โ
Cathy knew that Werner still had over 100 thousand in cash on hand. She thought, โThatโs enough for a Mercedes coupe for Cheryl.โ
Werner averted his gaze and said, โLetโs just wait until Cheryl gets her license. No rush to buy her a car right now.โ
Cathy frowned and said, โOrdering a car takes time, and then you have to wait for delivery. Letโs just order one for her now. This way, once she gets her license, she can hit the road right away. Wouldnโt that be great?โ
Under Cathyโs scrutinizing gaze, Werner couldnโt evade and could only say, โIโll place the order for her in a couple of days.โ
